Once again it is irrelevent in todays world. What part of that do you not understand. Louisville is in much better shape today than SMU. Spain used to have the armada which everyone feared, their navy doesn't get much respect today though does it.

bearcat...every program has their ups and downs . Louisville has a decent program but that is all. Your arugment is that past acomplishments don't matter and it would be correct IF there were present acomplishments on that level...in this case there are not. The problem with this board that we have a fans of programs who have NEVER played at the highest level dissing those who have.
If O'Rilley is the no spin zone this is the spin zone. Louisvile and Cincy fans are justly proud of their basketball tradition but they will try to deny the traditions of others just to brag. Its simply disgusting and nobody buys it. Arrogance must be aquashed where ever it is found.

From what I have seen they are simply stating the obvious. Their program is currently better than SMU's. I can't argue with that.

Plain and simple Coog, if SMU doesn't cheat, NO TOP TEN FINISHES.
Your crap is getting old, just like SMU winning ways.
It's called ancient history.

I'm sure Louisville could do it, too, if they cheated like SMU.

not vaild....many great SMU teams before the death penalty. The Mike Ford teams of the mid 70's were better than any team in CUSA today. You can't escape the fact, no matter how much you diss....no top ten finishes. That fact ends all arguments.

L-Yes...you call what SMU did ancient history...what about the present? You still havent done anything. GMAC bowl, doesn't hack it. Beating Colorado State in the liberty....in the scheme of things, small potatoes. Finish in the top ten one time and America will change its view of Cardinal football...just once, thats all we are asking. My guess is, and I hope I'm wrong, it won't happen.

Coog, I think I know what your problem is. You set these arbitrary standards in your head that you think everyone in the world should adhere to. In your demented state you are unable to correlate, you can't understand that SMU is a terrible program simply because they were ranked in the top ten 20 years ago. You can't wrap your brain around the concept that they cheated and got the death penalty and destroyed any respect they had built. You are unable to comprehend that although Rice has a 5 billion dollar endowment it has NOTHING AT ALL to do with a conversation about athletics. Having an exchange with you is like communicating with a three year old.

This does relate L...where is your top 10 finish?? Forget SMU, lets talk about you. Almost everyone has at least 'one.' You post your arrogant dribble on here week after week and its an empty suit until you acomplish something.

I'm still trying to figure out why a top ten finish is the end all be all and why Rice's endowment has anything to do with anything.

If you are not smart enough to follow the conversation then don't reply. Go back to the beginning to what 3601 originally said and see if you can figure it out.
Secondly, top ten is the standard. If you want to play your arrogant stick then finish in the top ten, Oklahoma can diss, you can't.
Frankly, I hope you do. I'm sure you have some great fans who deserve it.

Personally, I think fan support, quality of football team TODAY, quality of basketball team TODAY, and the outlook of the future are fairer, more accurate standards to judge a program by.
But that's just me.

Coog, if your so happy with SMU then why are you here? I think if you really thought SMU would ever amount to anything again you'd be happy with it and discuss it with people that care. Do you feel the need to be here because, despite the fact that even 6-5 goes bowling you will be staying home this year and SMU will as well, for what, the 18th straight year?

College Card....SMU may have been down for 18 years but had they played louisville since 1900 the series would be 70-30 SMU. Secondly, I notice there is no lack of NBE posters on the CUSA board. Thirdly, you just don't like the truth, you'd rather spin and diss.

Why are you even on this board? Houston is not in the footprint.
