MAC NCAA tournaments wins last 25 years
This year the MAC has added to its impressive totals over the last 25 years of NCAA tournament wins.

Ohio, Kent State, Ball State, EMU, CMU, and Miami have all notched wins in the NCAA tournament in last 25 years. 5 MAC teams have reached the sweetsixteen in the last 25 years and 2002 Kent State reached the elite eight. Three decades in a row the MAC has put a team in the sweetsixteen. Akron and WMU represented the MAC in the NCAA tournament making 8 different schools to represent the MAC in the dance with 6 of those gettings wins in the past 25 years. When you look back 25 years and see the accomplishments of the MAC in the NCAA tournament you get a better understanding of the tradition of the MAC and that the MAC champ often deserves a better seed and perhaps the conferences deserves a second team in a lot of the time as the #1 seed doesn't always get the tournament title.

Did you forget about WMU beating Clemson in the first round back in '98?

"Impressive"?

I'm not sure too many people are impressed by this.

The MEAC, the SWAC, and the Big South are very impressed.

Or:

This year the MAC has added to its meager win total over the last 25 years of NCAA tournaments.

Only Ohio, Kent State, Ball State, EMU, CMU, and Miami have notched wins in the NCAA tournament in last 25 years. Only 5 MAC teams have reached the sweetsixteen in the last 25 years and just one, 2002 Kent State, reached the elite eight. Three decades in a row the MAC has put a team in the sweetsixteen. Akron and WMU also represented the MAC in the NCAA tournament making just 8 different schools to represent the MAC in the dance with only 6 of those getting wins in the past 25 years. When you look back 25 years and see the accomplishments of the MAC in the NCAA tournament you get a better understanding why the MAC gets the seeds they do. Perhaps the conferences deserves a second team in a lot of the time as the #1 seed doesn't always get the tournament title. And perhaps pigs deserve to fly.

Sorry, no one wants OU to win more than I but I gotta side with Torch even though I live in Ohio. These are not impressive numbers

You forgot WMU too!

But, I am siding with you fellas. The last 25 years of the MAC in the NCAA tourney should not be bragged about.

You go back to the 80's and 90's and the MAC rep often got better seeds than we have recently. BSU was a #9 seed back in either '89 or '90 I think. Miami was even a #8 back in '84 but lost in the first round. Seems we usually were around a #12 most years and used to average an at large bid about 2 out of every 10 years, but lately we haven't even had teams in the conversation for an at large and our champs are coming in with seeds like 13 or 14 now.

Wmu got an at large bid in '98 and was rewarded with an 11 seed, if I remember correctly.

KSU was a 9 seed in '08.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I didn't realize that...probably our best seeding of the decade.

You gotta admit, that graphic of the "Fabulous Five" MAC schools reaching the Sweet Sixteen looked pretty cool, with the announcers being very complementary of the league as a whole. Wonder how many leagues have had that many schools make it that far over the same time span?

Yes that was nice.

A-10 probably, Missouri Valley (Wichita Sate, Bradley, Northern Iowa, Creighton, Missouri State).

Not many mid major conferences have as much program depth as the MAC, nor do they have the facilities of the MAC either so to be fair that should probably be expected.
