Based on what I saw this weekend, the call itself was right, because the net was moving off the moorings by the time the puck crossed the line.
Naturally the officials disallowed it because Ian Slater is a Super Human who can direct the puck into the net off his arm/hand while out of control when it didn't really look like it touched him anyway.
Right call, wrong reason.

you could hear the ref explaining it to the scorekeeper, it was disallowed by being knocked in by Slater's "shoulder or forearm".

to me, when you saw the replay from behind the play, it looked like it went in off his cage

RE: __per Saturdays: (4) Western Michigan vs. (1) North Dakota
Sad to see the season end but we have nothing to hang our heads at. I had the game on the big screen in HD and was running it about 30 minutes behind live (DVR) so didn't come to the forum during the game. I didn't want to read something that spoiled seeing it "live".
I thought we played solid Bronco Hockey for the most part. A couple defensive hiccups, but every team has those. I think Slubowski would like that first goal back. Really, except for the score, we seemed the equal or bettter of the two teams.
Hats off to the Broncos and I look with great anticipaton to a future filled with more success!
IMO Any player on this team not graduating would be a fool to bolt for the pros. I think they all realize that too. Cheers!!

Dave Starman (yesterday's color analyst) tweeted this:
@DaveStarmanCBS: Just to wrap this up..WMU waved off goal was rule 6, Section 18a.Can not direct puck into net with a skate or body part. That was the ruling
I asked him this:
@DaveStarmanCBS Doesn't there need to be a pushing or intent for this rule? It obviously hit off Slater's hand, but not intentionally
He responded:
Another huge gray area that needs to be addressed this summer-this is a rule change year for NCAA hockey.

Yeah, their reasoning was off like a prom dress but the net was moving.

Don't like the call but we had other opportunities to score and the ND goals could have been prevented. We just didn't quite do it this year. Next year will be a different story as our freshmen return stronger and more mature while a few very talented new players join us. I plan to be at VanAndal.

To be fair, Ian Slater *was* playing like a Super Human yesterday.
