I didn't actually see where Landon said Marshall "should have been" in the Sweet 16 instead of Ohio.

I saw where he said it "could have been" Marshall. Ohio is a very good basketball team that peaked at the right time and played great team basketball. MU also is a very good team, but experienced a lot of adversity over the season (not using it as an excuse). We obviously underestimated the Cats and it showed on the floor. Good win for OU, but to be fair, one that easily could have gone either way. The Akron loss on the other hand...03-banghead03-banghead03-banghead03-banghead03-banghead03-banghead
We didn't show up, period, and they blew us out.

With all that said, you have to take Landon with a grain of salt. His job is to write articles and get reactions, which he usually does.

Writing of the Ohio/Marshall game: "Was Marshall the better team? Yes."

Come on. There's nothing in the results, either early season, or late season, that proves that to be the case. If he has said regarding the early season Presbyterian/Cincinnati game that UC lost, "Was Cincinnati the better team? Yes." I could buy that. There are enough early season results by those two teams to make that case.

He doesn't really believe all the stuff he writes. That being the case, he can't really be taken seriously.

It doesn't matter if anyone "thinks" Marshall is/was the better team. They didn't win. And in March, winning is all that matters.

There is no glory in underperforming.

I know its good fodder for you guys but if you believe what Landon says, I have some beach front property in Athens Co. to sell you. The guy is a columnist and paid to stir the pot. Good luck to the Bobcats.

^this

It's no different than WMU's beat writer claiming that Alex Carder was a better QB than his counterparts at Michigan and MSU back in September. A valid argument can be made, but you can't "prove" it. However, it certainly ticked off the BCS fans. I wouldn't be shocked if he got hate emails over the whole thing.

This is comedy gold. Why the eff would Marshall underestimate anybody especially a team that had ended your season the year before? Go back and look at the game stories leading up to the contest and all your players did was talk about wanting revenge. This was a case of one team losing to another team that was just plain better. The game was double digits for almost the entire game until the last four minutes when Ohio went into their prevent offense and let you guys back in the game. It kills me when fans blame every loss on their team not showing up. Your team showed up, at home I might add, and got their butts kicked. Live with it.

You went into a prevent defense??? Come on , dude. Why would any coach do that??? But either way, you missed my point. Ohio is a very good team, and they were the better team that night, period. And you obviously missed my point of OU playing better team ball. There was no dog against OU at all. BTW, great game against UNC. You guys shot the lights out.04-cheers
