Still waiting for SK to put together a complete game. Hopefully it's Sunday.

Suprisingly yes. They are probably the biggest team in the country.

I don't think they play anywhere near as good of defense as USF and they dont play particularly slow on offense. I think we can beat them. I seriously hope we don't take a big lead early. We are better when it's close down the stretch. We get a sense of letdown when we have a big lead.

They are a more talented version of USF size wise, they are huge 1-5, probably bigger than Cincinnati at every spot. I haven't seen them play too much but they are sure in a lot of close games. They, much like UC, have no showed many times this year (lost to BC at home, buzzer beaters to beat Duke, Virginia, Virginia Tech).

RE: UC-FSU pregame
They're not a very good ball control team. Lots of sloppy turn overs, if you pressure their guards, I could see it being like the Georgetown games.
James is big, he's not as wide built/bulky as Gates, but he's big and athletic.
Turn them over, points in transition, a few 3's and that'll be it... in theory.
We win, we may be playing Gonzaga in the Sweet 16.
Brings back, some not so warm and fuzzy memories.

If Cincinnati can hit their perimeter shots at a decent clip then I think they have a great shot at winning. I think the zone defense will really force a FSU into committing a lot of turnovers. I'm really looking forward to Gates and James battling in the post, it will be quite the match-up.

RE: UC-FSU pregame
I watched the Bonnies play FSU in person yesterday for the first half. Everyone keeps talking about FSU's defense and yesterday at least in the first half I just didn't see lock-down defense. The Bonnies pretty much did what they wanted offensively.

Offensively FSU really struggled at the start allowing the Bonnies to get out to a 10 point lead. The Bonnies only made the tourney by winning the woeful A-10 so it's not like they are UNC caliber.

FSU might be a team that plays up or down to the level of their opponent — ie. beat Duke, UNC, lose to Clemson, BC, Harvard, Princeton.

RE: UC-FSU pregame
I'm glad that once again we play a "name" team....seems to help our guys focus.

I don't know if FSU has seen a defense like UC's this year....may be wrong on that one

They are not good at taking care of the ball.....

I think we win...I just think we are playing so tough right now. And the Big East prepared UC for this much better than the ACC prepared FSU for UC. IMO

I think we should lace up the track shoes and push the ball hard on offense and do the press-to-zone defense that seems to drive a lot of teams batsh*t.

agree Eastside....

And on offense attack the rim just like we did vs Marquette in the game we bombed them in the Shoe. that will loosen some things up...namely for Gates to punish them inside and also give us some open looks from 3pt land.

RE: UC-FSU pregame
One thing I've noticed that impresses the heck out of me...you ever notice how it's virtually impossible to pass the ball around the inside vs UC? Teams that attack the rim then try and dish it off in the paint usually have it stolen or swatted away. We make interior passing very very difficult. People are really better off just holding onto the ball and going to the rim against us.

FSU really is USF writ large. Offensively not going to win any awards but they play very good D and destroy passing lanes with their length.

Whatever we did that didn't work against USF, don't try to do against FSU.

4th NCAA game in a row against a former recruit in Xavier Gibson.

Hopefully the USF fans and OU fans pull for the cats to help give us a little extra crowd support.

That'd be nice. FSU is a brutal draw for a second round game. I think they are the best 3 seed. That said, we can beat them.

i don't think we have the gas for that. Mick constantly talks about getting Gates and Cash rest. if we are down going into the second half, we may have no choice but since it's been something that's been brought up repeatedly, i think we see token pressure, but nothing locked in.

I think the rest thing was a first round luxury from building a big lead. I think we will see Cronin shrink the bench for the next 5 wins.
