Here is why your "fix" above wouldn't work.

1) The Big East (and any conference for that matter) is not going to get into the business of adding Football only members to its conference unless it is a last resort. Believe me, the football only members they are adding right now are last ditch efforts to add AQ level football to their disappearing conference. They don't want to give an equal piece of the BCS and tv revenue pie to a school that doesn't provide anything to the rest of their conference sports.

2) There are any Division 1 football schools that don't have a basketball program. There are only basketball schools with no football. (not any i can think of at least)

3) It is a requirement that a conference have 12 football members to stage a conference championship game. The conference championship games of generate several million extra $$ per year for its football playing members. The PAC 12 recently signed a deal with Fox that will add $25 million to their tv rights revenue for the 2012 season just for the conference championship game. That is almost a 50% increase in tv rights $$ when added to the existing $55-60 million per year their tv contract is already paying out to the conference.

The Big East (and every other BCS conference) will do whatever it takes to have 12 football playing members and a conference championship game because it adds a sizable chunk of tv revenue to the pie they are splitting. That creates a situation where nobody is going to remove a football playing school and not add one to replace it. I think we are done with the "football only" additions to conferences.

Air Force? If they come in it's for FOOTBALL ONLY. No hoops or all sports.

That would seem likely, but stop acting like you have any more of a clue than the rest of us. You have no idea what their talks are or have been about.

If you were following the BE realignment instead of worrying about me you would have known.

RE: VCU to the Big East?
VCU to the Big East is a terrible idea.

- We already are full of BB only schools.
- If we lose Louisville, me may not even need to replace:

nBE without Louisville: * New AS, ** New FB only
nBE East: Rutgers, UConn, Usf, UCF*, TEMPLE*, NAVY**
nBE West: Cincy, MEMPHIS*, SMU*, HOUSTON*, BOISE**, SDST**
nBE BB only: Georgetown, St. John's, Providence, Seton Hall, ND, Nova, Marquette, DePaul

12FB/17BB and that's WITHOUT the 'Ville.

We keep Louisville, we'd have 13 FB teams and might want to add one FB only. Paz did correctly identify Air Force as a potential.

That would give us 14FB/18BB.

>>>>>

Adding VCU (while a nice program) is not in the nBe's best interests on any level with their current needs.

>>>>>

They'd be an excellent fit in the A-10, but Richmond would likely fight that as said above...

Paz isn't a Tigers football fan, which probably explains it.

RE: VCU to the Big East?
It's not a diss to say VCU not a BE target either.

As an all sports conference that needs to work on their FB would want a program that provides good FB as well...
