Hated that they took out Dale so soon, he doesn't die till much much later. He gets bit and rather than letting anyone know, walks away from "camp" only to be captured by cannibals. They cut off and eat his leg. He manically laughs after they do and then tells them he was infected. They weren't happy.

Also, Carl shot Shane dead.

If you can find a way to read the comics, do it.

If they were going to do it just like the comics then there is no reason to do the show. Do you have a problem with the Darryl or T-Dog characters? They arent in the comics.

I'm pretty sure as to what he said....everybody already has the virus that makes you a zombie.... but you can never assume with this show.

I guarantee you that's what he was told and he will have to come clean in the next episode since we now know it's the case following Shane and Randall's endings.

I also believe we'll probably end the episode with them fleeing the ranch and maybe finding the prison. At least I hope so. They may save that for early in the third, but I think it'd be a neat cliffhanger for those of us familiar with the comics. Also hopefully early in season 3 they'll introduce Michonne and Tyrese. Two of the best characters from the comics. Casting's gonna have to be good on those guys though. Dream casting on those for me would be Tracie Thoms from Death Proof and Cold Case as Michonne and Chad Coleman from The Wire as Tyrese.

RE: The Walking Dead on AMC, does anyone else watch this show?
Hollywood and tv execs have run out of ideas. It would amaze people how many movies and tv shows that they have seen come from comic books. On some level it makes sense - we are a reality tv society and a minority of our populace picks up an actual book. Comic books are a happy medium (yes, there are exceptions like Kafka, Alan Moore, et., al.) between entertainment (one could also argue "quick story arcs") and full blown literature.

In a way, hollyTV execs have found a way to repackage a fast food version of literature and avoid paying an accomplished TV writer in the meantime.

Then why use the same characters if they don't follow the comics? They're following the basic outline of the comics, just changing the details..... For the worse.

Wrong. Why make a show with the same story as the comics when we already have the comics? As a long time fan of the comics, the changes in the show are what make me enjoy it on a whole different level. I never expected Dale to go out this early. And it was amazing. As was the showdown between Rick and Shane. Darryl is a fantastic character, one of my favorites, and he's not even in the damn comic. The two are separate entities. One influences and fuels the other but it doesn't dictate it's direction. And it shouldn't.

I'm more in the boat of sticking to the original story as much as possible if the original story is good. It's why The Killing is worse than the Danish original and why Game of Thrones is a amazing.

T-Bog is utterly worthless, but Darryl has been the most interesting of anyone really.

And, as was pointed out, they ARE following the comics. The Governor and Michonne have been cast, so they're obviously going to find the jail soon. There's no harm in following source material ala Game of Thrones.

I'm hoping the ending of season 3 is like the comics, "CHOOM".

Matt, have you ever read a comic called "68?". If so, thoughts?

They arent really following the comics that closely. Most of the characters have the same names but how they interact with each other and what is happening to them varies, at times, wildly from the comics. I was listening to a podcast this week that had an interview with Glenn Mazzara who is the show runner now that Darabont moved on. He stated that when he came on as a writer at the beginning of Season 2 that he hadnt read the comics and wrote his 4 episodes of season 2(Bloodletting, 18 Miles Out, Better Angels, and Beside The Dying Fire) with almost no knowledge of the plot or characters actions or mannerisms from the comics. He didnt sit down and read the comics until they finished up the writing for Season 2 and he was looking where to go for season 3.

I agree! If they made the show like the comics, then why watch? Look at the Harry Potter movies; numerous things were left out of the movies. Even so, the plot line was the same. I think the producers try to make it more interesting, hence Darryl and T-Dog.

Can't wait til Sun nite for the season finale!

So, the show isn't following the comics, but he read the comics to look where to go for Season 3?

K.

I guarantee they occupy a jail next season.

edit: I don't care that it's NOT following the comic, it's just that the writing on the show is so bad. They've been firing guns on the farm all season long, and all of sudden 50 zombies decide to show up?

If you like the syfy Being Human you'll really like the original British version. They still show the new ones on BBC America. Basically it's the same as the syfy version but with bigger budgets, better stories, better writing, and better acting.

I like the BBC version of Being Human more than the American version, too. If you like Being Human and Supernatural, dfwtxtiger, you may also enjoy True Blood. It may not be to everyone's taste, and I wouldn't suggest watching it with your teen daughters [tons of sex, and it's HBO, so it is pretty graphic], but I think it is a great show.

The writing on this show is not bad. It's actually much better than the comics. Kirkman has a propensity to have Zombies show up for no reason out of nowhere just for the hell of it. Plus his dialogue is simply dire at times. And his pacing is all over the place. Some may not like the slow pace of the show, but at least it's consistent, whereas in the comics I can't say the same at all.

By the way the horde of zombies that showed up last episode? I think we'll find out tonight that there's a reason they didn't show up before when guns were going off. I doubt they were just standing around in the forest waiting. My guess is they're just a heard passing through at a bad time.
