Our late season skid definitely cost CU a berth in this tournament of mid-majors not making the NCAAs or NIT.

Meanwhile, Coastal Carolina (19-11 and swept by the Camels) travel to ODU. From the A-Sun, 22-11 Mercer will host Tennessee State and 20-12 USC Upstate hosts Kent State.

Very annoying that we mess around and fail to get an invite while Coastal and Upstate continue play in March.

How do we know that CU wasn't invited? I know for a fact schools like Upstate and Mercer paid $31,000 for each one of its home games. Also, Upstate won 20 games in a tougher league against a tougher schedule. I saw them play on several occasions this year and they are totally different than you want to believe. They beat Belmont and ETSU and had the POY in Torrey Craig, Coach and Freshman of the Year. PLUS, they are super young!

Also, we talk about scheduling, but did Coastal having a softer, MUCH softer, non-conference schedule that helped run up the win total to 19 help them secure an invite for this tournament? Coastal played THREE more non-DI's than CU and had exactly two more wins. In fact, CU actually had more DI wins, 16 than CCU did with 15. In this situation, did a better looking record regardless of strength make them look more desirable? After all while CU struggled down the stretch, Coastal was 2-6 over its last eight!

I know you have to pay to host, do you have to pay to go on the road?

Outside of travel costs, I don't think teams have to pay, but I know both Wagner and George Mason turned down invites for that very reason. Their ADs both called the tournament fiscally irresponsible and GMU has a significant hoops budget to play with.

Mercer plays at Utah State for the CIT Championship tonight, representing the first time an A-Sun team has ever playing in a post-season title game. Televised on Fox College Sports at 9pm.
