I think that's a wise move, he can be his own mobile self and not get targeted as a DL when they run right at him.

He'll be a bear on delayed blitzes.

that's a great spot for him. With his speed he could do some damage. He'll be much more successful going against a RB than an o-lineman

I'm not sold on this.

Correct me if I am wrong, but Hazel's strength is pass rushing, not stuffing the run.

How does a move to LB help the defense?

I am. Maybe my memory is bad, but I don't think his skill set translates well to LB.

What am I missing?

Interesting move on Cubit's part. Not exactly sure what to make of it. After his Frosh. year, offensives have been loading up the running game on Paul's side. Think Cubit hoped Paul would gain a few lbs. as he matured but that hasn't happened.
We do need more depth at the LB position though he should move outside.
I'll take the optimist's view that Cubit is comfotable with his depth at DE & wants to use Hazel's talent in addl. ways.

Hey guys,

im actually a publisher for BroncoBlitz.com, and when Cubit told us this i was very surprised. I think he has the speed for it and with his length he will clog up some passing lanes in the middle.

Thanks for all the support,

I didn't get the feeling this will be an every down thing, more of a wrinkle. I'd be surprised if Hazel plays much more than a quarter of his snaps at LB.

These Bronco Blitz kids are crushing it.

David Drew is a great guy, and we aren't trying to take anything away from him. We just want to provide WMU fans with as much coverage as possible.

Not trying to get into a pissing match as my issue is more with the editors of the paper than the limited staff that Gazette sports has. Both DeCamp and Drews are stretched very thin. On the other hand you guys are full time college students doing this on the side. So I'd say the time constraints are about even. Drews really does a nice job with hockey, I think you do a much better job on covering bball and football. Between May and Fall practice you can really fill in some gaps that the Gazette won't even bother with.

I think you're doing a fabulous job, and really doing a service for WMU athletics, at a time where they need the extra media support. :ncaabbs:

Also, my colleague David works 25 hours a week. He is just an article writing beast.

Thanks for your continued support

RE: Paul Hazel will play more from a linebacker spot this spring.
When we asked Drew Nowak his thoughts on Paul moving to LB part time he had this to say:
"I think, being it's Paul Hazel's senior year, I think it'll be a big breakout year for him. I think he's going to step up and make a lot of plays, and [the coaches] are going to put him in a spot to do that."

I get it DB. You play good cop with one poster and attempt to pit them against another. So clever 03-melodramatic

No one said Drew was a bad guy. The problem is he's spread too thing, and the bigger problem is the editors in GR relegate WMU to P.3 of the sports section when it even makes the paper. You're 2000 miles away. Maybe you should let those who subscribe to the paper critique it. It's not very good, particularly the paper edition, and there's been plenty of others voicing their displeasure here.

I'm sure you're aware they have this whole new deal called the Inter Net aren't ya Sam Drucker?

His response was the high road, I complimented him on it, the fact that you took exception is very telling.

There's a reason the paper copy still sells. You don't have to look for a hotspot. Don't have to have 4G. Don't have to wait for it to download. And at what point will they begin charging for the news off the net? Probably just before they declare they're bankrupt.

Your motives are more telling them some of my students. I had it pegged the second you wrote. You don't even have a dog in this hunt. Us folks in Hooterville will ultimately be the ones that will keep the Gazette afloat or not.

You want to do these Broncoblitz guys a favor. Post on their forum. Traffic on the forum not only will build their site, but will bring more attention to WMU athletics.
