next season. She seems like the tough player that flourishes in Coach Foley's system. If she works hard on her shot I think she has a chance to become a very fine player for us. She has the quickness to make steals and take it to the basket. Her problem might be finding playing time, with Taylor Gault, Taylor Ford, Jeanette Merioux,
Kierra Clark, Hannah Fohne, and the juco inside player coming next year, plus the little point guard from Texas, there is really going to be great competition for playing time.04-cheers

Did you see her play in High School? She played only 39 minutes this season averaging only 2 minutes a game. I certainly could not tell what type of player she is based off that. Hannah, who is a forward/center will not take any of Cobbins' minutes since Cobbins is a guard. Nobody will get Gualt off the floor next year. Gualt could be player of the year next year. Cobbins minutes next year will probably come in relief mostly at the 3 position.

Someone can clarify this for me, but I think she was a very highly rated player out of high school. Something like the #83 player in the country? Anyway, I saw here in one early season game where she looked like a future Shanika Butler, but then she was hurt and sick most of the year, so she didn't really every have a chance to perform at her best. And she may have to play a role for another year, but at some point, she could blossom into a terrific player. From the very limited glimpes I got of her, I believe she might be another star for us.

That's the type of ability she flashed before her injury and illness. If she really blossoms, think of another player with Taylor Gault like ability on the floor along with Gault. Mind boggling. If Coach Foley can start to recruit some inside players with the size and talent to match the guards he recruits, he might have a chance to take a team far into the NCAA tournament

That's the problem mid-major coaches face, men and women. There aren't that many good bigs to go around. The big boys and girls get those. We'd be lucky to get a good 6'3" girl. Of course that would be better than a good 6 footer. I'd take one of those every year.

The secret is to become one of the successful programs in girls basketball where players want to attend your school. Keep winning, and we'll get a few of those kind of players. We're already beginning a winning tradition under Coach Foley, and each winning season and trips to the post season make our program more desireable.

Sorry, she played 204 minutes, 10 a game, this season. She had a huge game at home against Memphis. Scored 15 points in 29 minutes.
She has the credentials to be a great player. I hope she is. But I can't say, after seeing her play the limited time she played, that she is the type of player that will flourish in Foley's system.
We really need to replace Marion and Britteni next year. I don't remember the name, but I think we had a big out of Texas signed for this season and she got homesick and left school. The women are still in decent shape for next year. It should be another fun season.

I don't think you've really seen her at her best. I was told she had a foot injury that set her back, and then had some digestive problems that set her back further, but I think most of those problems have been attended to, and she should be healthy by next year.
From what little I saw of her, I think she fits perfectly in Coach Foley's system. Quick, anticipates the passing lanes, and can take it to the hoop. She reminded me of Shaika Butler, only more advanced as a Freshman. We supposedly have a really good inside player out of a Juco in California who I heard was rated the 7th best Juco center in the country this past season. She is a more versatile player than Marian and can shoot from out on the floor. Might not be as strong as Marian around the basket, but not many are. Brittini might be the least athletic player on the team, but one of the most valuable. She'll do the little dirty work like rebounding and taking charges, and making the trash put backs around the basket. And she's a leader. We'll miss her leadership greatly. I see us being much better next year than this year, assuming everyone comes back, and we develop an inside game to go with our group of guards.

I thought Sitzman was the heart and soul of those teams and when she left I wondered who would replace her in that aspect of the game. I believe Brittnie did. She will be missed. Now, who will replace that leadership? Could it be Taylor Ford?

RE: I look for Cobbins to have a much larger role
Remember Kim left before Asriel, Chas and Shanika. I don't know who the leaders were, but someone filled that role. Maybe Asriel.
And Chas was a great player who hated to lose and worked hard on her game, so she certainly led by example. Shanika was a warrior and was sort of the John Fowler of the Lady Trojans. And then surprisingly, Brittini came out of nowhere to set the bar this year. Coach Foley seems to find those type of players, who are mentally tough, or if they stay and play for him, they become mentally tough.
What a coach.
