RE: Conference Affiliation
What was up with AD whispering "No Football" at the end of the press conference. I thought that was kind of odd.

RE: Conference Affiliation
A little information about the schedule - as I understand it.

We have been in the AAC now for three years and have played SMU, Houston, Memphis and Tulane twice every year. I am assuming you will be designated as a western-side program as we are, thus the schedule should be the same as if you had been in the conference all along.

As Coach Marshall described today in the news conference, they were talking about an 18 game conference schedule broken down into a 7-4 split. Unless I'm wrong, that should mean you will play 7 teams home and home twice and the other 4 only once - road or home. But its my understanding 5 of the 7 h-h teams will be on our side of the conference (west) since it lessens travel issues. So you should have SMU, Houston, Memphis, Tulsa and Tulane coming to the Roundhouse next year and will go to those places once. The other games scheduled form the eastern half of the league (two of the initial 7 h @ h) are evidently not known yet and will be announced later. This is the way it should be done as I understand. So the 7 refers to home and home contests and the reamaining 4 are against teams only played once.

I would prefer the h/h to be the 7 best expected programs. But SMU, Houston, Memphis and Tulsa sounds good and bonus they are close. But I also really want h/h's with UCONN and Cinci. No matter what as long as us fans get h/h with UCONN, Cinci, SMU and maybe UCF, we as fans will be happy.

If there is an unofficial E/W split like that, so be it. I request that we get Cincinnati H/H at least. Then I'd say UConn. Though if Tacko comes back I want to see him in The Roundhouse.

RE: Conference Affiliation
Since you all will be hosting an NCAA 1st/2nd Round regional next year at the IBA in Wichita, I certainly hope you will start lobbying for an AAC member school to be in that venue. Being the host is a good thing for the city even if you can't paly in Wichita as host school, but the next best thing is having a conference brother playing there. So if you have some influence, get one of our AAC schools in Wichita - especially a team from the westside. The NCAA always looks at geography and easy travel distance as a factor, so that should help with the schools in the western AAC. The city of Tulsa had SMU here and there was a nice turnout and that should apply to Wichita as well. Two AAC teams would be especially nice. There were two Big12 teams in Tulsa last year - KU and Baylor, so its not unheard of.

Having an AAC connection in Wichita for the tournament would be awesome. There's almost a guarantee that we'll have a huge Kansas presence which isn't as awesome, other than the loads of money they'll be spending in the community.

Plus, the AAC team(s) fans would have a great time and experience. I've read about some of what they're planning to enhance the fan experience downtown next March and it should create an amazing atmosphere and a good time for all that goes well beyond just the games that will be played.

Option 1 - Hope the new MWC/CUSA conference would take non-football schools.

Option 2 - Step down to the Horizon and hope it continues to trend upward.

Option 3 - Hope the A-10 wants to go to 16 and wouldn't be opposed of going farther West and adding Wichita and Creighton.

None of the option look all that promising and it appears we're stuck in a conference that has too many schools that can't financially do what needs to be done to escalate the conference and their programs. Outside of Creighton and Wichita it gets a little shaky. Bradley I think could be up there with CU and WSU. UNI is at it's limit. MSU is in financial disarray. I like ISU, but not sure they have the finances to really bump themselves too much higher. That and they're focused on improving football with hopes of moving to the MAC some day. Drake is a small private school that can't go much farther. The two Indiana schools (ISUb and Evansville) are hopeless. Pretty sad when you have a head coach (ISUb) that left to take a job as an assistant elsewhere. SIU is a mess.

Life in The Valley...

From ECU I am hoping Wichita comes into AAC with Navy.....pulling for you guys to win it all.....best of lucks:)

Predition win!!
