Wow. I never thought they would get to $6m. Good job MAC Commish. Now what will they do with the money?

I hope the MAC is putting the screws to them on the buyout.

Cool on the 6 mil. Glad they are finally leaving so we can quit discussing it. Nice to see the MAC had the balls to raise the 2.5 mil buyout up to $6 Mil, lets everyone know we don't get pushed around...

Leaving with less than 12 months really puts the MAC in a tough position of filling out schedules. That being said, it seems that the $6 Million is a stiff penalty and I applaud the MAC for not being patsys and rolling over.

I wonder if the $6 million does much more than compensate for the gaping holes they leave in MAC football schedules. It may not be much more than the buy out with 2 year notice ($2.5) plus the revenue lost because of last minute schedule changes.

Hua? What lost revenue. The schedule is likely made using a computer program. Even if they do it without a program it is not like it takes more than a days work to figure it out.

Seems the 6mil buyout is true.

$6 million? That's not the MAC I recognize. I have to wonder what the back-office catch is.....

Temple would be leaving effective this year, right? So MAC schools that were going to be playing them this year will have to replace them. Now maybe the replacement game will be an upgrade, but presumably it will be a downgrade. Therefore, the school that was scheduled to host Temple would be losing money . . .

Buffalo, Kent St, Miami & WMU were to host Temple this year.

I am fairly confident that ESPN will ask the MAC office to match up WMU vs Ohio in the regular season in November...so if that matchup does happen the Broncos wont lose out.

Buffalo and Kent St will have a thousand less at most show up but you have to remember that season ticket holders get 2 tickets to an away game. The closest 2 games for Temple were these teams two so they would have seen lower sales anyways.

Miami will get a MAC West team that will show up better than Temple other than maybe if they were to get EMU

I dont see much financial losses at all.

EMU will likely spend less on travel too not having to travel to Philly.

A few hundred thousand towards the CPC should do the trick.

Disagree. The fundraising campaign for the CPC is underway and will have no problem raising the necessary amount of money.

IF NIU receives a "windfall" payment from the Temple buyout, it should go toward installing lights at the Soccer/Track complex.

That would be the full wad and I doubt we are going to get it.

I was wondering if this is going to happen this summer. They are supposed to be buildomg the intramural fields (with MANY lights) so maybe athletics can get a bulk discount deal with adding just a few more.

Not a dime of this money COULD go towards the IPF. It is a privately funded project.
