Yes, there is one scholly left since barnette left. Mader, Bowie, Davis and Balls have all signed.

I'm still confused. I thought Balls was the stud Point Guard!
If so, why are we not holding this scholly for a "big man" that may suddenly become available.

I dont know who they will sign but it is safe to say we will be playing freshman at point gaurd. The 2013 class will consist of only one scholly. I really hope its a 6'8 or bigger guy. 6'4 Brandon Hayes also will be eligible next year. It is my belief that next years team will be in the hunt for the Mac West.

Most stud bigs have already signed also this is a offer it is not a signed scholly. We also need more than one point gaurd. A sprained ankle and you are screwed.

He's been sitting on the bench all year. He's from Parkland College in Champaign. He will be a junior next year. I think he and Berg are preferred walk-ons but not sure.

Nothing much else going on, and we all love to think we know more than the coaching staff. That being said I think they need more size and you sign 2 new point guards that tells me you need to make another roster move to make room.

Huskiej, they do not need to make a roster move. At then end of this year there will be 8 guys on schollys. 13 is the most you can have. Niu has 4 guys signed for next year so there is one scholly left. I also believe they need more size but maybe they cannot find anybody?

They don't need more size! They need PG play and guys who can make shots. Size is not this team's downfall.

Yes this team and this program needs size in it. We needed size last year when rucker gaurded bigs and this year with the grays trying to gaurd bigs. We also need someone to play point. The team finished last in the Mac, they can use help allover the team.

We need guys that can shoot and score. Our team shooting percentage was in the low to mid :300s.

Everybody is so caught up in all the 6" 6" 190 pound guys on this team. That's great and it causes match up problems, but if you really want to build a better than 500 club you need another body down low.
Shooting can be learned by taking 500 shots a day all summer.

I like what I saw in the video, but who knows until he gets here.
I'll admit I didn't watch too many games this year, but when I was watching, PG seemed a much more desperate need than a big man. I want a big man as well, but we had a lot of trouble just getting the ball up the floor this year.

No it can't. It is a talent. Many people can hit jumpers with no one in their face but you need to be a real shooter to drain shots with pressure.

Shooting can be improved. Bad shooters can become decent. Decent can become good. Good can become better. No question about that. But, some people are just naturally better shooters with a gift that can't be learned. Some of it is probably mentality as well.

Any d1 coach would look at our roster and say it lacks size. Monty has even said we need more size. Stop saying that we dont because we do. We also need point gaurds, we all can see that. I will bet anyone that next year 6'9 sam mader will start along with a freshman pt gaurd, tony nixon, askil bolin and abdual nader. Monty has said that he wants several bigs with different skills on the team.

I think you're missing the point. Would it be great to have a 7 foot monster like Faried from Morehead State who can just jump out of the building or a guy like Matt Howard from Butler who you can throw the ball down low and get a hoop? Of course. However, this is college basketball and big guys are REALLY hard to find, especially at the mid major level. Northwestern is on the verge of making the tournament with John Shurna playing center right now.
NIU's probably isn't interior play. Do they occasionally come up on a big, talented kid who they'll struggle to guard? Yes, but they aren't alone with that problem. One of this team's strengths is rebounding, and as long as Nader and Bolin are on the team and Montgomery is the coach, it will be.
There's just bigger needs than a big guy, specifically a PG and guys who can make shots. Saying you can learn to shoot is incredibly nieve. If it was that easy everybody would be able to do it.
