Pre-Spring Non AQ Rankings
"6. Northern Illinois: The Huskies lose dual-threat star quarterback Chandler Harnish, so two-year backup and former safety Jordan Lynch will take over, and his specialty is as a runner. The offensive line loses four starters, and that was a unit that was possibly the strength of the team last year. However, the defense returns eight starters."

RE: Pre-Spring Non AQ Rankings
Nice to get a mention considering they only talked about 6 teams 1 of which may bolt for the big east.

Its great praise for NIU in the post Harnish era but it is now time for the program to make sure that we don't piss all over ourselves.

The general consensus was he would play safety here. He wanted the opportunity to give QB a shot, and took the backup job and never looked back.

The key this upcoming season is just to be in the thick of it and remain relevant during these so called "transition" years. That is really what separates the rising mid majors from the steady state ones. I dont think it would consider wetting ourselves if we dont win the MAC this year, just be in the race in late November.

He was never listed as a safety at niu. That was all conjecture of recruiting sights

I feel we are reloading not rebuilding. Until MAC games, we won't know much.

I'm surprised they put us that high. Of course, CFN will probably have us at about #90.

+1
Finishing in 2nd behind WMU or Toledo is as far back the team can go without losing face with the media...but then we would need a bowl victory to gain media the momentum into 2013.

I understand what you guys are saying, but I don't think we should be satisfied with anything less than getting back to the MAC Championship. I'd like to see us playing in that game three years in a row; it's been a long time since anyone has done that. I don't see any reason we should fear WMU and Alex Carder. Same with Toledo; they lost a lot on offense. We'll give them an a**-whipping in Huskie Stadium again this year!

Would be impressive to manage that with a new QB and O-line. I'm not expecting it but our D should keep us in games so who knows. We should at least be in the running.

I totally agree Bob, there is no reason this team cannot win it all again. The only thing I hate about WMU and Alex Carder is where the game is being played next year, Huskies are definitely capable of doing it though.
