Why didn't the football schools split and form their own all sports conference?

Terry, I don't know. I think the football schools collectively wanted to stay with the hoops schools. I wanted the Big East to expand by 4-8 teams (all sports) but I didn't get my wish. There was speculation that TV gurus had determined the football schools would not do well on a TV deal, but I don't recall a specific reason. However, the collective thought does not control the individual thought of each school. And the fact remains that all eight football schools were keeping options open.

The FB schools couldn't agree on anything. Thats why UCF wasnt ever added and why Nova discussions went so far. The 8 FB schools all had their own agendas and were looking over their shoulders at the other conferences. Thats on them. No one else but those 8.
