Not sure those UCF/FTU players ever played in front of a larger crowd than they did on that night. (At the time, UCF didn't even have a gym so the team played games at a local HS).

Physically, they were outclassed. UCF, whose tallest player was 6-foot-4, could hardly match up with Memphis' strong front court trio of James Bradley (6-8), John Gunn (6-9) and John Washington (6-11).


That was one talented team....Alvin Wright, Bill Cook and Dexter Reed on the perimeter....

Very cool that ya'll were at this particular game.

Everyone on this board has probably been to hundreds of games...and its interesting that what was "just another normal game" would have such a unique backstory that someone would write about it 35 plus years later.
