Check out the stickers on his guitar. If what I've read is right, this is the guitar he used to write "Yesterday" and he only uses it when he plays the song. He probably had the Red Wings sticker due to his band being called Wings.

People in Pittsburgh were pissed when he came to do the opening of Consol Energy Center and we were playing the Red Wings, so he was given a Penguins logo and he decided to put it on.

Pretty cool story, I think. Kind of sounds like he was forced into putting the Penguins sticker on, though, lol.

I tend to think these guys do this for every sports team when they roll into a certain town.

It's pretty typical for them to sport a jersey or something from the sports team.

That guitar is special, though. Supposedly he wrote Yesterday on it and only uses it for that song. It was used on the Ed Sullivan show when he (famously?) performed the song. The Red Wings sticker was sort of a legend. The Penguins sticker is still on it and he uses it for the song whenever he plays it to this day. In other words, it's not like he put the sticker on just for that day and has another guitar without it when he's not playing in Pittsburgh.

Gibson also makes a Paul McCartney signature Epiphone 1964 Texan guitar (http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Acoustic...Texan.aspx) just like the one he plays that has the Red Wings sticker and now Penguins sticker on it. The guitar Gibson makes has all the dings and dents in it that Paul's guitar actually does.
