Speaking of the pigs...
they do deserve congratulations for coming back from 17 points down on the road. They played Thursday night and played again Saturday afternoon. Auburn hadn't played since Tuesday. At least, that blows the "mentally and physically" fatigued argument out of the water. I guess Auburn suspending 2 key players, right before the game, didn't hurt either.

RE: Speaking of the pigs...
Actually the Auburn coach was quoted as saying his team was fatigued, if I recall. I watched the first part of the game before leaving for the Lady Trojan's game, and the announcers mentioned early that playing a team like Arkansas will wear you down because they put so much pressure on you from the start to finish, and if you don't have a lot of players to substitute freely, those six or seven will have dead legs at the end of the game. Exactly what happened.

I agree a team can be fatigued at the end of a hard fought, physical game. I didn't agree that fatigue was the reason the Chickenhawgs were falling behind by 15-20 points in the first half in some of their recent games.

No. I agree with that. But for the most part they're fighting teams with atomic bombs with sticks this year. Give Anderson time and he'll have a team that will compete well in the SEC. Unlike some of you, I think he's a terrific coach. And he's certainly energized the fan base. I know some of us on the board are aggravated by the University's stupid, outdated policies about playing in state schools, and the newspaper's sports page which has generally excluded the Trojans throughout the years in favor of the Hogs, but as long as we don't play them, I can root for them. If we were to play them, I would be cheering for the Trojans to win. But at least this way I don't have to choose. And I would hope that Scotto would get back on the board. We miss his great humor and good insight. Obviously, from some of our comments, he must have mentioned his reason for not posting anymore. Well come on Scotto. You're a great Trojan fan. Don't let the fact that a few of our guys occasionally vent about the Hogs, and Wally dampen your enthusiasm. All of us who've enjoyed your posts for years want you back. Do we need to come to your home and have a Trojan intervention? Hope to see you on here again soon.

I think its great you can do that. I know LRTrojan and I can't. I never met an Alabama fan who roots for Auburn, an Indiana fan who roots for Purdue, a UNC fan who roots for Duke, etc. Maybe the difference is those schools play each other. But in none of those cases has one school tried to shut the other school's athletic department down or acted like the other doesn't exist.

I understand completely. But it's comparing apples to oranges. Their rivalries are comparable to UALR and ASU. Not UALR and Fayetteville. And we also don't play football, which in the South is like a religion, so that's another part of the equation. The second part of your statement is obviously correct and maddening, but life isn't always fair is it? But you have to admit. For weeks now we've been getting terrific coverage in the paper. Ever since Troy Schulte became our beat writer. I don't know if that's the reason, but I've been very happy with how we've been covered. Let's hope it continues. If we could continuously draw 5000 fans to our games, and get to the NCAA tournament, our program would be difficult to ignore.

Good points. No doubt in my mind the recent media coverage helped get 5000 (mostly UALR fans) to the game. People have to know about the game to show up. I think people knew about this one.

I agree, that it was by far mostly Trojan fans. ASU brought more than we ever take to Jonesboro, but if they had brought the numbers they usually do, it would have been a sellout(wouldn't have been full because of the ghosts). I can understand why they didn't bring their usual numbers though. Their teams were both next to the bottom in the West, and as you say, their fans sound disgusted with the basketball programs, both men and women. The ASU fans never got real loud last night even when they built a 12 point lead.

Speaking of ghosts, the row right in front of my seats was completely empty except for two seats, and has been empty practically all season. I don't know who if anyone has bought the seats in that row, but Kerry said that Blue Cross had those seats a couple of years ago. Don't know if they still buy them, but they damn sure aren't being used much.

I won't argue that they probably bring more fans from Jonesboro, than we do from Little Rock. But it is hard to compare, because there is no doubt that there a many ASU alums in Central Arkansas. Doubt there are very many UALR alumns in Jonesboro (Well we have, at least, one- Matt Mouzy).
