We were playing UT, Houston, Florida States (a home game in 1976), Miss. St., Okla. St, etc, etc, etc, while your Marshall U was knocking em' down in 1-AA. In fact, yall (in deed) beat us 7 to 0 in one of those 1-AA playoff games yet during the very same season we beat the Texas Tech Red Raiders, the Rice Owls and would have beaten the UT Longhorns if not for the worst homer call I've ever seen in person as linked below. So yes, we fully understand why some of you do not want a North Texas functioning on all cylinders in this Alliance....it's pretty obvious and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to "get it" either.

The call in the link below took the heart and soul out of our 1988 football team that the rest of the season was all but anti-climatic-- including a NCAA 1-AA play-off game to say the least.

Yep, you're right man. We're scared of yall.

Who are you guys kidding man? Your budget is weak, your football attendance is what 18k, basketball is RPI #215 (thats with a blue arrow so it means you moved up to 215, your bball attendance is like 3k.

Yeah, I think those are the real reasons we don't want you in our conference. Why do you think you deserve an invite based on the things I listed above?

If you choose to continue living on fantasy island then by all means keep telling yourself it's cause we are all scared of how good you might one day become.

What you say about football attendance it correct, but UNT has a budget about the same as Marshall, has been to the NCAA tourney 2 of the last 5 years (Marshall has not been in 25 years), and averages over 4k for basketball.

Your $17 million budget is "about the same" as our $25.6 million budget?

Marshall

Ticket sales = $2.78 million

Contributions = $3.58 million

Student fees = $4.1 million or 18%

North Texas

Ticket sales = $690k

Contributions = $592K

Student fees = $5 million or 49%

Yeah, we're basically on the same level 01-wingedeagle

Your "mighty" basketball team is averaging 4k? We are averaging over 6k what does that say about fan support?

Want to talk current basketball though?

Current RPI

Marshall- #54

North Texas- #215

Enjoy your little tournament berth for winning the Belt. Every conference gets a team in the tournament, if we were in the SB we most likely would have some tournament berths as well. Oh well, I'd take our bball program and current rpi over North Texas. Once again you are not on our level.

But since you want to talk history in basketball, why not compare them in football while you're at it? Most likely because you know it wouldn't be to your benefit.

I think you guys do have potential to one day become something, but right now you are not there. That has been proven with ticket sales, contributions, and athletic budgets. You guys are on the right path, but don't try to knock my school just because I don't prefer you guys in the alliance. It's not like I actually have a vote anyways.

UNT's budget is in the $22m range from what I've read (for the record). You're definitely a better squad than us on both playing fields. We had a disappointing year in bball losing 2 of our top 3 to grades, true freshman that will be back next year. I expect we'll have an MTSU type year next year, depends on our OOC schedule.

Thank you mods for banning weatherfordmeangreen.

Yeah, he's only been around the Mean Green Scene for about 40 years and knows nothing about UNT like some of these upstart UNT novices who think they know everything. And when he posts things that he knows to be truthful because he was there most of the time they took place never-mind that, either. And when he tries to correct some way out there in left field endowment comparisons between Marshall and UNT a mod chooses to do ban that kind of poster; albeit, many of this forums threads seem bent in the direction to do 2 things; that is, goad non CUSA member posters to respond to some facts and figures that are sometimes way out there (and when we do respond to correct the falsehoods we are then accused of "pimping our schools") and secondly....the theme of this board seems to major on how 2 eastern schools presently in CUSA are trying to run the whole damn show for an alliance that will (still) be largely located 2 or 3 time zones away from those 2 schools. For certain ban him for even thinking such least of all posting such. He (WMG) also speaks of things others seem to not have the family gonads to handle. Obama would love this board--it's all one-sided--his sided! LOL!

And MDH, my school most graciously awarded me (along with fellow alum, MGRN play by play & Dallas KTCK 1310 "The Ticket" radio personality George Dunham) the 1996 Ulys Knight Spirit Award (out of 300,000 plus world-wide alums) for doing something positive in most of my adult years of being pretty loyal to my alma mater and for what its worth and whether you really are a supporter of North Texas or not...you can still kiss my lilly white arse. NOTE: I really suspect you are one of the supporters of a certain UNT assistant football coach from (cool) California who was (alledgedly) even working behind then HFC Todd Dodges back most of the time to usurp him but one such assistant coach who still did not get the HFC when McCarney got it instead, right? And next time we hire again I will still say to the level of ad nausem that we do not hire any UNT assistant because we've never had one to this day in our history that left Denton above. 500 in wins. Comprende?
