Here is a site I did not know existed. Evidently they keep track of fan satisfaction of a particular team. Here is NIU's fan satisfaction chart. I noticed the upward trend after Valpo, isn't that when WD left the board? Coincidence?

Horizon League

I always thought we'd fit better in the Horizon League than the MAC if the football team left for the Big East or something.

There is no question about it. Or if NIU football gets demoted to sub-FBS which now appears to be a strong possibility, at least basketball would benefit from a better conference fit.

Guess what? MD's right about this. It is a strong possibility, whether we want to admit it or not. The changes in the BCS and the super-conferences that are beginning to emerge make the long-term survival of the MAC as an FBS conference questionable.

It hurts all the more to think about with our recent success on the field and facilities upgrades.

Its not that we will move down it is that the AQ conferences will move up forcing the MAC/WAC/"alliance"/SB (along with some great FCS teams who want to move up) to make a D1-A playoff league.

All the AQ conferences like the bowls and other than upping the wins to 7 they are going to stick with the bowl system even with the +1. What could happen is that all the AQ conferences end up "working" with the bowl people so that they do not have to play any non-AQ teams anymore.

This would leave us non-AQ teams wanting something more profitable than one or two 1mil payout games a handful of $750k bowl games where most of them require $300k in ticket purchases on top of minimum hotel stays for the whole team. If a playoff could give them more post season exposure with less cost or even more of a profit then why not.

That's the scenario that we should be most afraid of. Not a certainty by any means, but definitely a possibility. We'll know a lot more this summer when the BCS schools announce their playoff plan.
