The problem with SIU is its location. Carbondale is too far away from a supporting metro area, which would impair its ability to support FBS football. The closest city to SIU is St. Louis, which despite being only 100 miles away, is in a different state.

You are not going to see ISU or SIU in D1 football anytime soon. Neither would give up the Valley for basketball and I am somewhat fed up with the Conference getting shafted for doing favors for these football only schools

Agree but I would still invite Army for FB only. If they actually accept is an entirely different fantasy.
