Celebrating Champions Books
Anyone know if these are selling out? I thought for sure they'd be gone by Friday. I saw someone at the women's game on Saturday buy one, so apparently there are some left. If they are not selling fast, maybe Athletics was right to print only 500. With the fact that copies from that allotment were given to all the athletes and their families, I thought that the remainder would be snapped up fast.

It's because they ruined it for me by putting soccer and volleyball in there. If it was just football, I'd buy it.

RE: Celebrating Champions Books
I ordered 3 of them on Friday. Should be shipped to me this week. I figure they make great gifts.

The soccer and volleyball only take up the last few pages. I'm glad they put them in there as they, too, are MAC Champions and should be celebrated.

I don't hate them, and I'm glad they won stuff, but I love NIU football. It always seems like athletics panders to the small sports and it makes us look small time. Do you think if Michigan won the national championship in football and in cross country, any book or photo ops they did would be with the cross country stuff? Nope.

Seriously? Those kids busted their asses and got next to zero recognition as MAC Champs. The least they can get is a couple of pages at the end of the 20 page football book that you don't have to look at anyway.

If NIU is truly a school (and it is), then those kids and their accomplishments matter.

The book was about championships, with an obviously heavy emphasis on football. Now, if there was a bunch of pages at the end about the basketball team saying that they were trying really hard, then I might agree with you. As is, you lost me.

The book is well-done and tasteful. Athletics is more than just football. The volleyall and soccer CHAMPIONS deserve more than the recognition they get, which is very little. The volleyball and soccer section in the back of the book is small. Football-only fans should just buy the book and tear out the last couple pages if that's your thing. Pretty sad, IMO.

Wait, we won a national championship in football? Hell, I'll pay for the printing costs of a football-only book AND for your own personal copy Bleeds! 03-lmfao

Then give them their own book. I'm not denegrating the accomplishments of the teams, just saying it makes NIU look amateur. It seems like they kinda said, "Oh yea, to be fair we threw these last pages in because we have to be fair." If they wanted to imply the important accomplishments of the other sports, give them their own book or make their sections equal in size to football. I just think it kind of ruins the book by throwing the other sports in, especially as what seems like an afterthought.
