UTSA Attendance VS Ticket Sales' Income From All Sports
Quote:Prospective Members (I may be forgetting someone):

1. UTSA - 35,521 (FCS)

I put this in the smack forum because I saw the reference to departing members not posting in expansion threads and I understand that. So, I'll put it here to hold down the noise.

I know that Texas San Antonio made the jump to the WAC last year and that would have had a very positive impact on attendance. However, It's easy to fudge attendance figures (not that any of our schools would), but actual money collected isn't so easy to fudge when it has to be reported.

In the 2009-2010 year Texas San Antonio reported total ticket revenue for all sports of $168,630.00. All sports.....$168,630.

If UTSA had 6 home games last year, they are claiming that they had more people in the stands than the number of $1 bills that they collected for all sports the previous year. Student fees made up 63% of their entire athletic budget.

I didn't just grab these numbers out of the air, here is the link where all public schools budgets, income, expenses are outlined from their reported figures.
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/n...nances.htm

Even if these numbers are off by a bit....well, everyone can form their own opinion.

UTSA-Texas St-North Texas-La Tech all have massive room for expansion.

However, since my school is going to the Big East it'll be the STFU !!!!!!

But living in Texas these schools have a lot to offer. They are growing and reside in area's with D-1 voids.

Those figures are for the 2009-2010 school year as you say so that includes their football schedule, games, etc for the Fall of 2009. How many home football games did UTSA have in 2009?

Well, perhaps UTSA not playing any football games in 2009 might have something to do with the low number that was on that data base. :)

It looks like 2011 was its first season.

Considering a program for expansion that has only one year of football experience has its challenges, but the number that are in that data base are irrelevant for UTSA.

Sorry for the confusion. I have no problem in stating that was 100% my error in not doing further research on a new start-up program.

I wasnt trying to embarass you, only trying to keep the record straight. There are so many "facts and records" thrown out around here now due to possible expansion it is time for everyone to clamp down and expose the frauds.

Your question was right on target and I take no offense. I knew that the UTSA program was new; I just didn't realize that this was the first year, which may or may not raise other questions.

I do find that site that I used as a good reference point when folks quote attendance. I think it's obvious that some programs count legs and not people when announcing attendance. The hyperbole is for humor only.

Actual money from ticket sales isn't as easy to monkey around with.

The reported attendance numbers tossed around on these boards mean absolutely nothing. Louisiana Tech, for example, does not even keep OFFICIAL attendance figures. Actual ticket revenue actually doesnt mean much either, some charge $45 per game whereas others might let you in for less than $10.
