2012 6'6 200 Cole Hobbs commits
Former Rice commit Cole Hobbs, a 2012 SG, has committed to Kennesaw State.

What the hell is up with the guards? This is the seventh new recruit and only 1-2 "bigs"

Ginger?!? There's been only 1 ginger player in the history of KSU...let's hope this guy has some of that famous ginger angst! As for all the guards, seems to me we're setting up for a much more up tempo team that's able to push it and shooters to knock down shots. Have to be able to shuttle players in/out if they're going to pick up the pace. Now, if we can just get some inside kids to grab the occassional missed shot, we're in business......

Just did a little digging, kid plays for GAC. Martin is a very good coach, so that bodes well for him. Knocking down 6 3's in a game and shoots 90% FT....kid is a shooter. He'll put on weight, if he hasn't already started to do that. Good piece to have and shows the coaches are trying to build a team with various pieces/roles. We're getting there

Meh, he played at Johns Creek before GAC. I would say he's more around 170 then 200. But last I remember he is very one dimensional, but whatever. We are KSU so who cares. One dimension is more than most of our players have now. lol

He wasnt anything special when I played against him. If he stayed at Johns Creek and didnt transfer to a bigger recognition school then I doubt he'd have as many scholarships. And like I said, he's a shooter. Don't really recall if he was a good defender... We beat his team by 48 points, so he couldnt have been that good of a lock down defender lol.

After a little digging on Johns Creek hoops, I would say his move to GAC was smart. JC is not very good and their head coach is not in the same league as Martin, but not many are at this level. To start for Martin, he's gotta be a pretty decent player. If his 1 dimension is lights out shooter, you can fit pieces around him. Like ilm said, his 1 dimension is better than what we have currently. As for beating his team by 48, not sure that is as big a deal....JC only scored 20 in their last hoops game, wow! Lol

Even though their just highlights, i can see a few good things about him. One he is a pure shooter. You can tell by how he gets himself square to the basket and its an effortless motion. Two he's got some long arms, and thats going to help on defense a lot and for rebounding. and three, you can seriously tell he protects the ball. Whether it was using his off hand on the dribble to protect the ball or when he came down with the board and covered the ball, you can see he's a smart player.

Obviously we cant see things like one on one defense, or moving without the ball, how well he takes the contact etc. but from what i see he seems like a good pickup.

4. He handles the ball well, especially being 6'6". At ease left or, more natural, right handed. After a rebound, the team takes off which tells us that his coach is very comfortable with him handling the ball and making good decisions. That's not typical, so another good point in his favor.

5. He was once a commit to Rice. I'm gonna take that more on the side of he's good in academics and we wont have to worry about him in that department.
