Jake Yancey. One of my favorites of all time.
My son in law, grandson and I, have been trying to figure out how many years Jake played for us. I said three seasons before he had his career ending knee injury, and that he just missed his Senior season. My son in law said he only played two years. I checked this out on our website, but the information there only goes back to 2001-2002. I found another site called Stat Sheet, that shows Jake played three seasons, 2000-01, 2001-02, and 2002-03. I can't find our media guides on the net. Anyone know how to access that? Or what is your recollection of Jake's career?04-cheers

Three, as I recall. I believe he opted out of the last season because of health issues.

Jake started from the get-go. Porter was smart enough only to ask him to fill his role, and he was smart enough to do it. He never was a spectacular player for us, but he was always steady and dependable. Score a few points, grab a few rebounds, and play good defense against the opponents' big man. His game improved each year.

RE: Jake Yancey. One of my favorites too...
If memory serves me correct he played 3 seasons, then knee injury and then voluntary gave up his scholarship so UALR could immediately fill his slot.
I can't remember who was the scholarship recipant after his injury.
Truly selfless individual.

Thanks. I checked, and it looks like he played three years. I knew he had to give up the game because of a severe knee injury, but I wasn't sure how many years he played.

Here's what was going on at UALR when Yancey made his decision...
Porter Moser had left for ISU in APR 2003...
Moser gone; UALR looks to hire Shields

Jake made his decision in MAY 2003...
Injured Yancey done at UALR
