Neighbour on the arc
8 of Will's 11 attempts last night were from the arc. Looks like we are using him basically as a perimeter player. And with Courtney and Javes starting, he was playing the 3. With Gus taking over for Courtney next year, no reason that should change.

He presents real problems for other teams. Although he is not a guard, he will be quicker than most big men they put on him, and if they put even a 6-6 kid on him, he can still shoot over him pretty easily.

A lot depends on his shoulder surgery and his strength and weight as to how we utilize him. I see him rotating in and out, but I like him facing the basket and taking those three point shots. He's pretty deadly on those, as witnessed last night. He's been on a roll the past three games. He must be getting more comfortable with his shoulder brace. Glad he could have a great game in front of his dad and brother.

Who was it that said Will couldn't play the three? That he was too slow a foot. Too slow to put the ball on the floor and drive past defenders. Can't create his own shots. Can't remember who that was. Maybe someone will remember.

Me. He cant do it right now.

Now, that is not to say with a healthy body and some work on a pet move, that he could not drive to hoop. Dennis scott was slow of foot but drove to the basket a lot using the pump fake and his body. All you have to do is get a shoulder by the defender then move across his path. I think this kid can learn that.

Bird was slow too.

Wasn't me. I love him at the 3. What a match-up problem for other teams. With his frame, he is never going to be a bruiser underneath. He might get stronger, if he stayed here all summer, but I'm sure he will be back in England either playing for the Olympic team or the Under 23 National team. No one can begrudge him that opportunity.

He doesn't have to when he can shoot like Will can. He'll get better at that though. As you said, Bird was slow, and he turned out to be a pretty good player. Mouzy couldn't create his shots either, but he had the ability to get the shot off quickly. Will has at least one thing Matt didn't have, about eight or nine inches. The ability to post up and shoot the falling away jumper doesn't hurt either.

I've said all season that his best position is playing the three. I think that's where he'll be next year. He may play the post some if Gus or Javis get hurt or in foul trouble. But, he's a three.

RE: Neighbour on the arc
I believe Will's injuries have hurt his stamina and quickness since he was probably unable to really practice at a high intensity level. But as he plays more and gets into game shape, it's obvious he'll be a terrific player in the SBC. You guys love him at the three.
I don't care where he plays, as long as he plays for us.
