TCU Football reputation takes a hit
Bad news for Gary Patterson but I feel for the guy in a way. Probably didn't know what was happening on campus with SOME (a few) of his FB players. But the fallout will hit all of them hard.
This one's going to leave a mark.
Quote:For over a decade of growth and prosperity in football, and on the eve of its biggest achievement ever -- membership in the Big 12 -- Patterson has repeatedly been credited for doing it right and doing it scandal free in the areas of recruiting, off-the-field issues and very good graduation results.
That image, combined with success on the field, had put TCU in a lofty category compared to most all of the big-time football programs.
Quote:The police, both campus and city of Fort Worth cops, hit back hard Wednesday morning at student drug dealers, making 18 arrests, with school officials emphatically stressing that those taken into custody were "drug dealers."
Four football players were busted, the most prominent name being starting linebacker Tanner Brock, with another potential starter in the defensive line, D.J. Yendrey, also included. Devin Johnson was a starting candidate at safety and Ty Horn was a backup offensive lineman.
This is different than a player busted for having drugs in their possession. These players were dealing and were not very discreet about it, telling some buyers that they were football players.
Frogs' pristine image stained by arrests
Not going to throw stones at them because this kind of stuff could happen almost anywhere. But it is still shocking and sad.

RE: TCU Football reputation takes a hit
Unfortunately, this is probably more rampant in other programs than anyone would like to admit. Lots of these students/athletes sell presription meds to make extra $$$...and lots of them are taking them on a regular basis when they aren't prescribed by a doctor.
