Pullin for you guys
Would love to see the Sun Belt stick together, make some quality value-adding additions and become the best non-BCS (or non-whatever it is down the road) league.

I don't have anything against the teams left in C-USA - but the move to combine with so many western schools is bonehead. Ideally, I would have liked to see C-USA East combine with the Sun Belt but egos and only looking at short term monetary gains will get in the way of a move that makes a ton of sense for UAB, USM and ECU.

My personal opinion is that you guys should try and secure La Tech and UTSA immediately to get to 12 in 2013.

It's not too encouraging to think the WAC commissioner who lost a major realignment battle against the MWC (there was a moment, if you remember, that the WAC looked positioned to invite desperate MWC teams right after Utah/BYU/TCU left).

Can he do the opposite here? Keep the membership from jumping to the CUSAMWC merger, if they are called?

I hope so. A compact footprint is key. I'm not a fan of the new Big East, but at least Boise and SDSU are football only. Even then we're pretty spread out.

FIU/FAU, WKU/MTSU, USA/Troy
UTSA/UNT, La. Tech/Ark. State, Louisiana/UL-M

That would be a fun all-sports league.

What about UALR? I wonder with the new commish, if we vote to go to 12 football members if there would be a push for UALR to leave? We've had 13 in basketball before so we could make it work with them. Or we could get 1 more non-football school to balance them out... although I'd imagine it would take away 2 OOC games in basketball. If we did something like this I would hope Missouri State would be our first choice.

Missouri State would not agree to come; certainly not as a non-football member.

But last I heard Missouri State has shown no interest in moving up to FBS. If that's still the case we could offer them a home for their other sports, especially their basketball, which would greatly help us.

I hope having a lame duck, already do nothing, wishy washy, yellow belly commissioner in Wright Waters didn't put us behind the 8-ball so to speak in this latest round of realignment. With the WAC crumbling we made no overtures. We didn't make move one for UTSA or Texas State. If there was a time for this conference to be more proactive then reactive it was this year. But we did nothing. Now, Benson takes over in April...everything will be that much further down the road by that time. I hate to be a doom and gloomer but it doesn't look good for the belt. I hope everything works out.

I think the outgoing commissioner has done a great job considering what he has had to work with.

IMO, UALR needs to find another league. The SBC needs to go to an All Sport conference. No more non-football schools.
