RE: ESPNU - Is Cincinnati a Tournament Team?
Joe Lunardi has moved us above the Last Four In after the game (at least a #11 seed).

Their analysis didn't even include Top 100 or Top 50 wins. Simply last 12 games, RPI and Strength of Schedule. Hell of an analysis.

Can't decide who is more destined for stardom, the announcer named something along the lines of Slkdfj Fdsfije3kv or the 60-year old D-list scrub they trotted out for the analysis.

RE: ESPNU - Is Cincinnati a Tournament Team?
I stopped listening to anyone on ESPN on the tournament outside of College Gameday because I respect Bilas, as he actually respects and mentions efficiency ratings like KenPom and Sagarin. Current NC State coach (forget his name) on the NCAA tournament show on ESPNU, when the UC-Mizzou game was mentioned said he didn't even believe Cincinnati should have made it to the tournament, as a 6 seed? Really?

I live in Missouri and everyone here said Mizzou would roll....yeah how'd that work out for ya'll

People gave us no respect and went out and crushed them...it was men vs boys that game.

In fact dare I say, had we not played the NC team and fellow BE conference mate I think we had a serious shot at sweet 16 last year

RE: ESPNU - Is Cincinnati a Tournament Team?
If they're going to make these predictions...they should at least try and get their facts right. They said Cincy failed with a 6-6 record last 12. And then two categories later said they passed with a 13-5 record since the X fight???

Try 7-5 last 12.

RE: ESPNU - Is Cincinnati a Tournament Team?
The was the most idiotic breakdown of a resume I have ever seen. Oddly enough our pal Doug Gottlieb said earlier in the week that if we beat both Providence and Seton Hall that he really likes our chances of making the field. That's pretty much the complete opposite opinion as last year when he said we were still on the bubble and ended up with a 6 seed.

RE: ESPNU - Is Cincinnati a Tournament Team?
just saw that Rivals has released their projected bracket and they have Cincinnati as the final team in and Xavier as a 9 seed. How can they be out in multiple brackets and then a 9 seed in another?

RE: ESPNU - Is Cincinnati a Tournament Team?
The only negative over the last few days is that some of our Top 100 wins are dropping like flies. On Saturday we had 7 Top 100 wins after Georgia upset Mississippi St. on the road. Since then Oklahoma, Georgia, and Nova have all dropped out of the Top 100 with some bad losses. That's potentially 4 wins that could finish just outside the cut line. We really need these teams to pull of an upset or two in the next few weeks. Big difference finishing anywhere from 6-10 Top 100 wins.

You're right, but if they handle business they should have 5 top 50 wins (Notre Dame, @UConn, @Georgetown, 2 of SH/UL/Marq). However it would certainly help if Oklahoma and Georgia could get back into the top 100.

They'll definitely have the big wins that stand out on a resume if they win two more at home, but you also want those other quality wins (RPI 51-100) that help fill out the resume. Nova is killing us right now having lost four of five because if they don't turn it around that becomes another bad loss chance if they stay above 101. Even worse, of their final five games they have us and our three biggest wins (ND, UConn, and Georgetown). There is a huge difference if at the end of the year you can say 10 wins (48% of your total wins) were quality wins compared to just 6 (29%). If those three teams keep losing you might have to win the remaining home games to get to 6 Top 50 wins just to beef up the resume even more.

RE: ESPNU - Is Cincinnati a Tournament Team?
So our crappy out of conference schedule is coming back to haunt us afterall.
If you play a crap schedule, you got to beat the teams on it.
The losses to Presby and Marshall are pulling us down.
If we had beat them, we are sitting pretty-
-or-
If we had not scheduled a pile of crap...

RE: ESPNU - Is Cincinnati a Tournament Team?
Our top 25 RPI wins are incredibly strong, our top 50 are ok (i think all of our top 50 wins are our top 25 wins), Our top 100 are not that great at the moment, but not terrible either.

That said our non-conference SOS and our 3 BAD losses really hurt us. I think we are better than many of the borderline tournament teams, but I don't blame anyone who does not have us in at this point. It is our fault not theirs. Here is hoping we finish strong enough so as not to give them the choice. I believe if we are really on the bubble it is likely we will be on the wrong side of it. Committee consistently has sent a message to teams with low non-conference SOS's. Ours is abysmal.
