RE: Schedule comparison
If we win the West, Steve should be shoo in for COY. Kermit Davis has done a great job, but he has more mature players, even though some, like Dendy have just been there this season, but Dendy is the kind of kid that you just give the ball and he'll do something good with it. I couldn't argue with Kermit receiving the honor, but I think Steve has done more with what he has this year, and considering what he lost, than maybe any coach in the country.

Kermit will be Coach of the Year, although it could be argued Steve deserves it.

I think your right, and Kermit probably will win it, but in actuality, it should go to Shields. He's actually done the best job considering what each of them lost and started the new season with. It should always go to the coach who does the most with the least. That would be Shields this year. I'm still not convinced that he is the best we can do here, and if his coaching can't put butts in the seats, he isn't in my mind but for this year, you've got to call a spade a spade.

Just like we did a couple of weeks ago when MTSU played at Denver, we need to root for Denver to tag ULL with another loss. UNT too, but I think that is less likely to happen. But if that were to occur a couple of things might happen:

1) ULL might end up on the same side of the bracket as MTSU.
2) Denver might end up on our side of the bracket.

One or the other seems likely to happen. My guess is that ULL would be harder for MTSU to handle. But which poison do we pick? The team that thumped us once by 20 and we beat in overtime, or a tough team to beat that we would have to beat for a third time?

Of course all of that is predicated on us continuing to win.

RE: Schedule comparison
Let's just get to the finals of the tournament, and be ready to play whomever else gets there. At this point, I don't really care who we play in the finals. Just that we get there.

I worry the most about the first game. I hate having the bye and having to play a team that just won a tournament game. They have increased confidence, momentum, a win under their belts, tournament jitters out their system, and familiarity with the court. I believe that was the difference in us beating ASU last year.
