Top 250 Memphis kids

This kid is a beast plain and simple. Would love to keep him here, but my gut feeling is that he ends up in the SEC.

Jason Carr - UTK bound

This kid is good, but is currently headed to UTK and I don't know if our chances are good. We will see, but I think it will be hard to sway him away.

Right now these 3 are the only Memphis kids that are ranked in the top 250.

Bryan at TSR reported him being interested in Memphis even more-so that we are headed to the Big East. This is a kid we have a very good shot at.

Bryan also just reported that we offered two kids from East, both are tackles.

Yep. I know Ole Miss is hitting Whitehaven hard. I'd like to see us land a few from there and the Herron kid from Central.

Thanks cbhstiger for keeping us informed on the local talent, excellent post. But again, I just don't see it with the Wilkins kid from St.Benedict. I'll have to catch his act again this year when he goes up against the Brothers, who'll be loaded on defense. we'll see. Thanks again for your recruiting info.

Class of 08.

Here are (according to this website) the top Tennessee players in the class of 2013 right now. 5 from Memphis in the top 10, and Herron is ranked the highest. 13 out of 22 are from Memphis. There is going to be a ton of talent to recruit here.

Morris was just offered by Miss State, and is excited about it. Also likes UT and will visit Ole Miss the 25th and Starkville on March 31st.

Wilkins just visited Vandy and really enjoyed it.

"Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Ohio State, Alabama and Michigan," he said. "Those are just my favorites right now. I'm not saying that can't change. Arkansas, Michigan and Vanderbilt are probably the three recruiting me the hardest."

Big group at Whitehaven may sign together for the same school.

cbhstiger, speaking of Memphis football recruits, there was an article in today's Ark Democrat Gazzette about a CA juco DL named Marquel Combs being 'overwhelmed' by an offer from Arkansas. He says he wasn't expecting the offer from the Hogs and also has offers from Texas Tech, Ole Miss, Arizona, North Carolina, Florida International and Utah. He said he and his mom are thrilled with the chance to be closer to home so that his family can come see him play. Combs played at Memphis Hamilton High. I don't know if Justin has offered him, but if he wants to be close to his family, I would hope that the feeling is mutual.
