The MAC gets one automatic spot? I seriously doubt the BCS schools would let 33% of the slots for a playoff go to an automatic bid.
Yeah a LSU v LT game would sell well, but I bet a LSU v Georgia game would make the SEC boys goes wild with the money to be had.
Bama v Clemson? far better than a Bama versus Cincy in the SEC eyes. Oklahoma v OK State? Yeah, they don't want to play NIU.
The cupcake argument holds no sway. Its like arguing that NIU will be rabid to see Tennesse Martin or Cal Poly come to town when we could play Toledo or U of I.
The SEC is not going to be the conference blocking any playoff, they assume they can get 3-4 bids every year, and the big east and the ACC would probably get on board with a system like this over a top 16 or top 8. The conferences that would be worried are the Big 10 and the Big 12 because they'll be the ones losing to the MWC and MAC
They may block a 4 team playoff if the Big 10 is required to get an automatic bid.
Thats true...but why in the world the big 10 would get an automatic bid in a 4 team system is beyond me.

I don't think anybody gets an automatic bid in a 4-team system. It was just be 1-4 and 2-3, regardless of conferences.

I would think they (BCS *sswipes) would want a 16 team playoff. Each conference would get one automatic bid, but via the same bogus channels we use now the Big Ten and SEC would have 2 to 4 horses in that race annually...
Are they just that scared that our best team would actual have an avenue, no matter how up-hill, to the Championship?
What p*ssies.

I don't think that's it. Like I posted before, Delaney just doesn't want to lose the Rose Bowl, which is why any playoff system he supports will be small, so that the Rose Bowl can still exist. His conference makes a killing off that game and has spent decades working with the Pac 10/12 to make it into what it is today. There's no reason he'd want that game to disappear.
The SEC doesn't care, they're the king right now and I don't think they're really afraid of anybody. They don't care all that much about the Sugar Bowl, either, so that's not a concern like the Rose Bowl is for the Big Ten and Pac 12. The Big 12 is just glad it still exists.

I dont think the big 10 deserves 2-4 horses in a playoff, but I would have a hard time arguing that the SEC doesnt deserve 3-4 teams in a playoff
