Last realistic shot at a win for Porter
0-13 Loyola hosts 3-10 Ill-Chicago on Saturday. If Porter doesn't win that one, not sure who he will beat although he has 5 more conference games.

I really hate it that Porter is having such a difficult time. He's a good coach. Just needs to get the right players to compete.

Recruiting is the head man's responsibility.

Recruiting may be his strong suit. Steve did very well with Porter's recruits (2 straight division titles). Ill State did well with Porter's players after he left. Maybe the coaching part is lacking. I would assume that Loyola will give him a few years to try and straighten it out.

The Horizon League is a pretty tough league. Butler is in it and we know what Butler has done the past two seasons. Butler is having a tough time this year, though. Moser has two seniors and a junior playing significant time and those three are in the top 4 in scoring. Look at this stat, Loyola has 32 blocks to 124 for opponents. Loyola has 101 steals and opponents 160.

Evidently he's been a pretty good recruiter. So you think the coaching part is Porter's problem huh? Well, it seems that he did a pretty good job of coaching Sidney's and Wimp's recruits, and left your boy in pretty good shape for a while. Sort of funny how some on this board like to belittle former Trojan coaches after they're gone. Wonder of they'll do that if their boy ever leaves?

Funny how nobody gripes about coaching when the team is winning.

Still waiting for an ex-UALR coach to have some success somewhere else. Hasn't happened in the history of our program going back to, at least, Happy Mafouz. By the way, Newell is is tearing it up a West Alabama with a 6-16 record. Not great, but better than Porter.
Newell should be back at the DI level any day now.

I told you I'd get them out from under their rocks.

Hey, Bob. I'm so glad to have you back full-time. The board had gotten awfully boring the past few months.

Porter can coach.
He has only been there a year and probably needs some players. Their conference's middle of the road teams would finish in the top 3 in the sbc most years, i would bet.

Their coach was fired after last season for winning "only" 7 conference games. No idea what the other factors in his firing were.
