Then why did they use different words?

And people wonder why I'm so critical of universities.

You must be mentally challenged to think that I can't recognize the logical fallacy of re-directing the question. You call it "equal rights for all", and you assume it true. I already proved it false.

See what I mean about a lack of critical thinking?

LMFAO...you couldn't prove the sky is up...

Why do you Memphis people always have pics of dead people in your signatures?

something about respecting the men who made our program what it is.

that's like asking "why do you American's put dead people on your money?"

But I don't have a say in that.

No. See Holy Bible. And as you Lib's love to point out, going to church doesn't make someone a Christian.

Using birth control is a sin. Unless you are married by a catholic priest, Jesus does not recognize your marriage, so you are living in sin.

I'm not Catholic. And I'm also not trying to force the Cathlic church to recognize my marriage.

-This would have gone to the Supreme Court no matter this court's opinion.
-I don't see a federal right to marriage.
-Not sure how it is a civil rights issue either.
-The govt. shouldn't have it's hand in the private lives of its citizens. (Shouldn't care who marries who, gay or straight).

Remove the tax incentives to marriage by eliminating the IRS, moving to a flat/FairTax and every other "benefit" to marriage/unions can be handled by a contract. Leave the word "marriage" to the churches. If one would like to grant marriages to same-sex couples, then good for them.

there are only 2 fair options...

1 (and i think best) is to get government OUT of marriage...call it a civil union (for the rights) and let the people decide who's married.

2 level the playing field so gay folks can marry just like their straight counterparts

FIFY

^This. Honestly, I don't think there is much debate among the legal community. To a majority of lawyers, it's clearly unconstitutional to deny two consenting adults equal rights available to two others. It violates the equal protection of laws. Gays don't have equality of law under the current system. There is no rational basis for the government to oppose gay marriage. The only arguments against it are religious in nature, e.g. "Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve herrrr herr..."

I don't think it will be close. 6-3 at least if not more in favor of overturning gay marriage bans. Conservative judges will want to keep the government out of marriage. Other than Thomas, I don't see anyone trying to say gay marriage should be banned. Maybe Alito, possibly Scalia. I'd prefer that the government get out of all marriage.

And honestly, what does it matter if gay marriage is allowed. GAYS CAN ALREADY GET MARRIED!!!! It's not f*cking illegal!!! They get married everyday. It's just that the government doesn't recognize it so they don't get legal benefits. But they go around and say they're married and have rings. What's the problem? Gay Marriage exists either way.

If you claim that there are no gay Christians, then your church obviously doesn't have a tambourine player.

As far as whether gay marriage is going to happen or not, it is.

There are many gay Christians, and there are many who believe the Bible is widely misinterpreted by the masses on homosexuality. They know more of the Bible than I or anybody on this forum will ever know about it.

While I don't buy into any of it personally, it is important for folks to realize that you need to dig deeper sometimes and not just assume you know everything about the Bible because you can copy and paste a few verses. Having more acceptance of gay people among Christians who currently oppose gay marriage is only a good thing. No need for animosity and fear. These are just normal folks, neighbors, brothers, sisters, etc... trying to live their lives. I think the more gay people that come out, the more folks actually get to know them, they realize their just like anybody else. Studies have in fact shown that the more people come in contact with gay family members or co-workers or friends, they tend to be more accepting of allowing gay marriage.

Whatever happens w/ Prop 8 and the Supreme Court in the next couple years, it's clear the tide is changing long-term. We'll see how long it takes, but gay marriage will be legal in all 50 states in my lifetime, of that I am certain.
