I wonder when the new contruction will begin

This needs to be added to the dosier. Imagine we are building a case that would be used in court for prosecution, all the crap like this shows a pattern of behavior and supports our case. At the very least, these supporting facts will shut up the naysayers who think all UAB football fans see "black helicopters".

Look for them to respond saying that gump baseball had previously established attendance.

We had previously established attendance too before the Callaway era.

Just glanced through the article.

Seems like they are more so saying they should do it because it would have helped the football team sign the Hueytown QB.

Along with pre-established excitement in the program.

I think they added the Winston reference to make it more palatable to the football minds that control the money.

I think our OCS proposal will prevail. Right now the powers that be want to save face and not look pressured into the decision. I won't be surprised if our OCS will be revisited at some point within the next 12 to 18 months. It will give them time to save face and make it seem like they were all for it once they saw all the facts. Nevermine the facts have been there for review all along.

I hadn't considered that, but holy catfish, I hope you're right.

They don't have to worry about any pressure on approving anything Tuscaloosa related because it is rubber stamped when it comes from gumpville.

I hope so too. I agree that this along with better attendance numbers (due to a coach of our choosing) may be what they need to save face and approve a project that should have originally been approved. But, they would still be very reluctant knowing how much momentum that would give our football program. So I'll believe it when i see it.

UAB needs to average about 22K + and then we have some leverage. Hard to argue with what our attendance was last year. That boycott of football by a good many fans backfired and hurt the program.

Even though this seemed to start because of the on campus stadium, it actually started when Callaway was hired instead of Fisher.
We are a pissed off bunch of people right now & deservedly so.
The BOT knows that they need to do something to "settle us down".
That something may be approving the on campus stadium later this year.
Mackin had to work behind the scenes & get Petrino's help in order to get McGee hired.
The same type "behind the scenes" stuff is happening with the on campus stadium.
Imagine what UAB could do if it received the automatic approval that Tuscaloosa seems to get.

Speaking of which, have you heard anything on who our 2nd game will be against? (i.e. Alabama A&M or State)

It's been quiet. Speculation is ASU but nothing official. That's all it is is speculation.

Word at FSU is they're trying to get UAB or Louisiana-Lafayette for the Sept 8 date.
