See, this is the kind of tradition we are losing with Pitt going to ACC.

Thanks, that is 8 former Panthers in the Hall, now tied with ND for 2nd most (USC has 9). We've been in the BE for 30+ years, I'll miss games against teams we've grown familiar with, it'll be hard getting used to playing other teams.

Thanks. Two guys who were definitely deserving. Hopefully Fitzgerald and Revis will make it in the future as well.

Appreciate the notice Quo. I am sorry to see us leave the BE and some great rivalries behind. Curtis Martin played for Pitt when we were in the BE. Doleman is old like me and played before there was a FB Big East.

Martin is one of my absolute favorite players of all time. A true class act, one of the smartest guys to play the game and a true force on the field. He's the anti-Tiki Barber. I was thrilled when I heard of his election.

It makes me sick to know we won't be playing Pitt anymore just when we were starting to get a rivalry going after years of playing. Losing WVU and Cuse too is just insane. Its no secret I'd love to see Rutgers with Pitt, Syracuse, BC and Maryland in the ACC as its become the de facto Eastern conference.

I also want to congratulate Pitt on the selection of Martin and Doleman to the NFL Hall of Fame.

Both guys are very deserving of their selection.

I was a bit disappointed that Jerome Bettis and Tim Brown did not get selected. Maybe next year....

The Bus was definitely slighted, Terry. He should have gone in on his first ballot...

Of the two ND players Terry mentioned, i think Brown is the more deserving. The Bus was a flamboyant player who got lots of media attention, but Brown quietly caught over 1,000 balls and was an ace punt returner. All told, he has over 19,000 total NFL yards. Should be in the Hall.

I think that Bettis should be in the Hall. Like I said, maybe next year.

Here are Jerome Bettis' NFL stats:

3,479 rushes, 13,662 yards, 3.9 avg. 91 TD's

He is 5th all time in the NFL in rushing. He didn't exactly break it outside for the long runs. He just ran over people.

Here are Tim Brown's NFL stats:

1,094 receptions 14,934 yards 13.7 avg. 100 TD's

I am not even including all of his punt and kickoff return yards here.

I agree. He should be in Canton, no question.

While I am at it (and probably hijacked a thread, sorry), here is another ND guy that I believe should be elected to Canton, but is probably a long shot:

Ricky Watters:

2,622 rushes 10,643 yards 4.1 avg. 78 TD's 467 rec 4,248 yards 9.1 avg. 13 TD's

We are talking the #5 (Tim Brown), #26 (Jerome Bettis) and #28 Ricky Watters ranked players (all time) in NFL All Purpose Yards.

As a Raiders fan, I was very disappointed that Tim Brown didn't get in. How exactly does the voting process even work?

Bus would have had Martin also not been up. Martin was the #4 rusher all time, he had to go in first.

Great thing is if Fitz and Revis continue at their current level of play, they'll find themselves in Canton as well. 04-cheers
