Macomb, IL (GoLeathernecks.com) - Former ASU offensive coordinator Doug Ruse has seen plenty of success in 2010 at #21 Western Illinois. The Leathernecks offensive coordinator helms an offense that is 5th in the Football Championship Subdivision in total offense, 2nd in pass efficiency, and 6th in passing yards per game.
Western Illinois (8-4) beat Coastal Carolina 17-10 last week in the 1st round of the FCS Playoffs. They will travel to play #2 Appalachian State (9-2) in the second round saturday. Kickoff is at 11:00am in Boone, NC. The game will be on ESPN3.com.
FYI for those just skimming...this is Arkansas St not Arizona State
Exactly why it should be Arki St., Ill St., etc. ASU in in Arizona. ISU is in Iowa.

I would still be slightly disappointed if this is our guy.
I am thinking that DD's list of potential coaches is not resulting with people that are interested.

Because in the past month he hired 3 guys that he had no connections to and if it is this guy it would be the 4th. His list would most certainly have people he has worked with or come highly recommended from people he has worked with.
Really my disappointment will be gone about an hour after he is announced so it doesn't matter.

RE: New OC
Disappointed? If he is the guy, what is there to be disappointed about? Have you looked into his history? I have, somewhat. It's impressive.
I haven't met him, but if DD thinks this is our guy, certainly his background and DD's endorsement will do it for me.
Being from WIU, he will have familiarity with recruiting Illinois, a plus. Being from Arkansas State, he will have knowledge of recruiting down south, another plus. And his offenses have been prolific, and his QB development has been superb. So, not much not to like!

LOL
Like I said my disappointment would be gone after an hour.
I am not worried.

IMO, Doeren should consider P. J. Fleck.

I guess my point has always been that no one on this board has the experience in football to weigh in on the hiring of asst coaches. Only Coach D does. But I am a strong believer that a candidates connection to the school is not in the top three criteria I would consider in hiring.

People are expressing their opinions and hopes on this board. No one here is hiring the coach or saying they know better than Doeren.
