Right Wally. Then why did you waste 2 full columns, 2 days in a row, writing about DGB. He was only the best player in America who the Biddies, Otis's, Davenports, of the world assured hog fans for weeks was coming here. Didn't hurt one bit.

You could write a column about the best player (in his age group) in England who chose to come to your hometown university. Or a player who chose to come to your hometown university, all the way from Brazil, and is now working on his Master's degree. Or a 3 star player who chose to come to your hometown university despite his father being the assistant coach at Iowa. No, you'd rather write about a 17 year old kid who "played" you, your reporters, and thousands of hog fans right up until the moment he pulled out a Missouri hat. Won't your reporters ever learn that when an out-of-state high school kids waits until signing day to announce at a high school, in his home state, he ain't coming here.

Pretty astute observation. I believe the kid was torn and probably would have come here under other circumstances, but you're right. When a kid waits to have a press conference instead of committing earlier, your chances of signing him diminish. But in all fairness, this was arguably the #1 player in the country, and it went right down to the wire, so that's not too bad that you're even in on a kid like that. I'd like to see the time when our basketball program is in on a player like that, even if we don't get him. And we are getting some good players the past few years, and hopefully that will continue. And I'm not positive, but I don't believe Dillards father coaches at Iowa. I think it's Iowa State, but I could be wrong. Either way, Ben is going to be a really good player for us for several years if all goes well.
