It's just a BS term that means, "whatever we can find for him to do." $300,000 is a lot to pay for damaged goods.

Not quite. His first assignment is to raise funds for a new arena.

Because, God forbid, anyone at Hollywood High raises any money for educational purposes.

I heard they're interested in bringing in Jerry Sandusky for a Consulting position while he's out on bail.

Akron's beginning to remind of the roster the Syracuse Bulldogs compiled for their Federal League title game against the Chiefs in Slapshot. All that's left is to hire Clarence "Screaming Buffalo" Swamptown as assitant AD and Ogey Ogelthorpe as director of Marketing

Oh this young man has had a very trying rookie season, with the litigation, the notoriety, his subsequent deportation to Canada and that country's refusal to accept him, well, I guess that's more than most 21-year-olds can handle... Ogie Ogilthorpe!

Call me nuts, but doesn't Akron have the only recent National Championship among MAC teams?

I like what they're doing. It's proactive.

You'll want Kent St to do the same thing if they ever have a football team.

Seriously? You would hire Tressel for your school?

There's questionable ROI. But TTech didn't do terrible by hiring Knight.

Tressel is very popular and has a lot of connections in NE Ohio. I'll bet he earns his $300K.

The ZSU faithful love Gee and his overblown salary, and he wears a friggin' bowtie... Most Ohioans aren't very smart (anymore).

I'm not talking about return on investment. They guy has been slime since he was at YSU, and his lies and general lack of integrity are now out there for all the world to see. Sure, some people will buy his snake oil, holier than thou bull****, but you would put him in an administrative position just because he can raise some money for the short term?

He can also do a lot of long-term damage, the image nightmare nationally he creates notwithstanding.

If it were me, I wouldn't let the bum on campus, let alone hire him.

He will be watched closely at Akron and won't have the freedom to run the show like he did at OSu. He's been exposed and so watchful eyes will always be upon him and regard everything he does with a dose of skepticism.

I believe he agreed to take this job as a way to rebuild his image and reputation. If he ever wants a chance to coach again, he'll have to stay squeaky clean. I guarantee you that his name will be mentioned in connection with every head coaching job that will open in the BCS next year.

Wouldn't all of that be considered return on investment?

Really? Any school that hired him would also have to be saddled with 4-5 years of sanctions too. I would think a school has to be pretty desperate to willingly accept that.
