More downers. I just have one thing to say:

IT'S A GREAT DAY TO BE A HUSKIE!

Also I'd hope that as a board the first time Doeren makes a questionable decision, that we're not calling for his head and for PJ to replace him. I'm sorry to put a little damper on the day but I just want to make sure everyone's football sensibilities are still in tact.

Here's hoping he lives up to the hype 04-cheers

That is the fun sometimes of listening to fans or "Fan"atics

It is what makes 7 be 7
It makes Dogfan be Dogfan
and Whiskey Dick....well Okay, be a Dick

Should make for some fun on here.

If everything on offense goes the way we all hope it will go -- Jordan becomes Chandler, Womble/Settle/Daniels becomes Spann and the OL performs -- nothing's going to be able to stop the PJ runaway train.

Beat me to it. And the playcalling will be more of an issue since we won't have as many seniors on the offense to execute it properly, hence the playcalling will appear worse. Though like many have said, PJ will get a pass for a while, and of course, with a bunch of new pieces on O you will have to have a little patience so it makes sense.

Anybody who tries to "push Doeren out the door" is an idiot. That certainly won't be me unless he has years (plural) of bad seasons. With that being said, P.J. being here will make it very easy to accept Doeren leaving if/when it happens, and I don't know how that is a bad thing.

I don't think there is hype around PJ. We all wish him well, of course. But he will be a first year OC. I'm sure he will make some mistakes, but I'm also sure he will give it his all, learn, relate well to the players, recruit, bring enthusiasm, and will be just fine.

Let's see, I read the words "playcalling", "patience", and "sense".... then I checked the URL.

RE: Fleck New OC
A great addition on so many levels. The impact PJ will have on recruiting will be huge, Recruits gravitate toward young coaches who have fire and passion for their program and they type of offense/defense they run which I'm sure he does.

Fleck will have a similar impact on recruiting to the hiring of Pat Fitzgerald at Northwestern.

This is important going into next year because according to edgytim and others, the state of Illinois football recruiting class is supposed to be the deepest in the last 20 years.

I thought the first question for Doeren would be about Fleck.

How about local Chicago hero Al "Touchdown" Bundy, remember he scored four touchdowns in a single game.

It will be here before we know it. The guys are working out at 5:30 every morning. QB's are in meetings and/or drills every day. Spring is almost here.

With PJ Fleck, what can we expect the offense to look like?

The WR core is way too talented to run a typical pro style offense.
