We have a lot of good solid role players, but nobody you could call a star, although Dillard might eventually fill that role.

Have you seen Will take a hook shot? Have you seen Will take a fade away jump shot? Have you seen Will post up his defender, back him down and get off a shot? Have you seen Will drive into the paint for a jump shot?I have. Those are all created shots.

None of the above since his shoulder injury. But his three point shot is a set shot, and he doesn't get it off quickly. Lot of possessions he receives the ball and before he can shoot, someone is on him and he has to pull the ball back. I admit some of this is probably due to his injury, which not only hinders his ability to do things he can normally do, but might have affected his conditioning which could make him just a step or two slower. Not to diminish his capabilities. He's a very good player, but he hasn't produced nearly as much each game since his injury. I look for that to change as he feels more comfortable physically with that shoulder. If someone had told you before the last game that between he and Chucky they would have a total of five points, and we'd still win the game, would you have believed that? I wouldn't have. A tribute to the rest of our kids, and our coaches who have gotten the kids to believe in themselves and play hard every minute of every game.

You can see that although he's still a project, Michael has tremendous potential and with Big Joe coaching him up, he could be a real force in the league before he's through. With James White probably playing Courtney's role next year, along with Javes inside, the length of those two young men will make it difficult to score on us inside. It might also free Will up to play more at the three position. Plus we're forgetting about Gus in all these discussions. If he comes back healthy and stronger next year, he could be a positive force for us inside. We could really go with a tall lineup at times.

Javes, Gus and WN is a front line to give any SBC coach ulcers. (Well, maybe not ulcers, but at least heartburn.)

You could see the advantage of size with LSU against Arkansas yesterday. Yes, you can beat a team with size inside, but you had better be hitting the majority of your shots because they're going to get rebounds and second chance points. That's the advantage of size. You normally get one shot at the basket, and they get two or three. That's how Jones-Jennings made a living. He might miss two or three put backs, but eventually he'd score off his own missed shots. When we can recruit to that point, we'll dominate the Sun Belt. Actually any team would. Of course you still need some good play from your guards, but you just can't discount the size advantage if the big guys can play at all.

Did you notice last night that there was a stretch where our Brazilian player was guarding their Brazilian player? How often will you see that in college basketball?

I think our best line-up is Dre, Chucky, Javes, Will, and Courtney. We actually look like a "real" DI team with that line up. A 6-10 player at the 3- talk about a match-up problem for other teams. I do think Dillard is coming close to pushing Chucky at the 2 spot. That will be a battle next season.

It's possible Chucky will play some at the point next year with Dillard at the two.
