We are going to HAVE to start getting QB's over 6' 2".
I know Williams is 6' 3" but if one of these huge guys is going to be a guard he will still have a hard time seeing the field.

We don;t need RB's, we are just going club you to death with +300lb OL. Play 10 OL and a Running QB..

I wonder if Jerry's OL recruits aren't very good. We have a lot of OL recruits this year.

Per Edgy twitter, Steger is a preferred walk-on.

I love this. Joe Novak's philosophy was always to beef up the O line to open paths for the RB and protect the QB when needed. Our D line took a hit at times because when we had some beef on the D line, Joe would move him to the O line. A big, strong O line wins games.

I personally liked what I saw from them, but there just weren't too many. I think this group is addressing numbers as well as talent going forward.

There are alot of big kids out there. Every school is getting them. The question is can they move their feet. Novak recruited taller tight ends(Free) and bulked them up. A kd can be big but if he cant move, he will end up being a turnstyle.

True. I go along with NIU05's philosophy of finding guys with the frame, and then bulking them up once they get here. Some sure-fire D1 O-line guys I've seen in high school are just dough-y boys that are bigger than anyone else, but then they never develop beyond that.
I get more excited about a 17 year old who is 265 and played basketball.

Ryan Brown fits that profile.

And I'm pretty confident that with DD's background he can tell the difference.
(Off topics a bit. He had to be thrilled to watch JJ Watt with the Texans in that last playoff game.)

Schools like NIU have to work harder. the BCS schools take their pick then we get the left overs. Kids like this that don't play in a big conference or against tough competition are the hardest to predict.

He was probably more thrilled when JJ Watt said, "You know, I don't think I want to be a tight end at Central Michigan anymore. I think I will just kill m*therf*^&ers for the Badgers and you for the next three years, Coach."

Is this term as self-explanatory as it seems? What does it mean exactly?

RE: New recruit Bradley Steger.
It means he's guaranteed a spot on this fall's team but does not have a scholarship. He has the ability to compete for playing time and eventually earn a scholarship as many before him have including Willie Clark, Rashaan Melvin, Joe Pawlak, Chad Spann and apparently Ryan Brown. Other walkons, not of the "preferred" variety, are those who are chosen to be on the team after competing in an open tryout, usually held right after school starts in the fall.

Does a preferred walk on count towards our 25/28 cap?

That's a scholarship cap isn't it? It shouldn't since there is no scholarship awarded.
