Two-star defensive tackle Brian Canoy (Chicago/St. Patrick) committed to Northern Illinois on Sunday. Canoy, a 6-foot-4, 24o-pound interior lineman, told ESPN.com in an email he became the Huskies' 17th pledge of their 2012 class.

Trib article in other thread he is quoted as saying he is a "greyshirt".

There was a question if we didn't have any open scholarships for DL guys which sort of goes along those lines if he says he was the 17th pledge.

However ESPN could just be going off their numbers and he didn't actually say 17.

We will know in 36 hours or so.
