But we don't compete with Illinois for recruits.

Nor the Big10 or the BCS in general.

What if Church comes back? And we get another "big ten" recruit? Then what?

There's no way to truly measure that, to make a comment that we don't at any point seems odd.

We certainly don't hear everything on the recruiting front. I'm sure there are times when someone has verbaled to NIU or another MAC school, a big 10 school gets interested, maybe gives a call, and the kid says he has no interest in looking around, and we probably don't hear anything about it. Does it happen often? Probably not, but there's competition. One-sided most of the time? sure.

NIU has had some guys over the years turn down the late offer that Church took and Myers will probably take.

Ryan Diem, Larry English and Eddie Adamski come to mind, I'm sure there were more.

You mean like the Indiana recruit who NIU picked up today?

Oh, nothing more to that story about the "Indiana" guy, huh?! For real, you believe that. Just wanted to be a Huskie and got cold feet about Bloomington.

Are you serious here? This isn't 1998. NIU has had many players who were offered BCS scholarships. Are we competing w/ LSU & Alabama.. no, but the idea no kid would pick NIU over any BCS school has past its time.

The Indiana Coach that was recruiting him left for another school and he felt like they (Indiana) didn't follow up on him.

Pretty classy to decommit and then insult the former school you committed to. The way I see it, if its a player that is willing to play at U of I, he is probably not the caliber of player we want at NIU anyway.

There are a lot of advantages to attending NIU over a BCS school.

Some players can see a lot more playing time at NIU than in a BCS school, especially depending on need for that position. Additionally, I think our win record is a bit more exciting than the ILL.

I don't understand how you think we don't compete with them. They are in our backyard.

NIU has a Head Coach with proven Big Ten success...U of I, not so much.
