"Non-AQ" chat with Andrea Adelson (the devil)
I just got done reading today's non-AQ chat on espn.com with Andrea Adelson. The more I read, the more she seemed to be pro-BCS in her writings, turning her nose-up at the pro-non-AQ questions thrown at her by the non-AQ fans. I went on to find out that she is a graduate of Florida, and an avid Gator's fan!?!

Why in the wide-wide world of sports would ESPN put a pro-BCS chick in charge of the Non-AQ chat?!? I gave ESPN a piece of my mind, please chime in if you have the time...

MY COMMENTS ON HER BLOG ARE BELOW:

"Adelson: "There is a division between the AQ teams and the non-AQ teams and there always has been, and there always will be. That is just a fact of life"

Andrea Adelson 100% sounds like a BCS backer put in charge of the "non-AQ" chat, what crap!

Hey Andrea, why don't you have 20 randomly selected "BCS" teams play in Dekalb Illinois on the Huskies home turf and see how they fare.. most of the difference is in the built-in advantages given to them by the system created by them.

The BCS is a joke, the only real test of who is better is the all-FBS 16-team playoff, and you know it. All BCS backers are cowards, thats a fact."
________

"I just found out that Andrea Adelson is an alumni of FLORIDA! Why did ESPN put a graduate of a BCS school in charge of the non-AQ chat?!?

There are thousands of amazing sports-writers that are also graduates of schools in non-AQ conferences. Please supply us with one for this chat, it would be nice to hear the opinion of someone who's alma mater doesn't thrive on the immoral BCS AQ/Non-AQ situation...."

...and yes, I do have too much free time on my hands.

Ive always thought she's done a good job and gives NIU good exposure. And who cares if she's a UF graduate. With that logic, all the Chronicle's reporters should be NIU alums.

Relax man. So what she went to Florida? Her quote is exactly correct and anyone with half a brain knows that. You just made yourself look very silly.

NIU was the 23rd best team in the country this year which means there were about 97 team below them. A great deal of those are Automatically Rewarded (AR) teams. The gap is not large. The only large gap between AR teams and non-AR teams is that non-AR teams have to work for what they get, while AR teams are rewarded for conference afiliation.

My point exactly, thanks.

Andrea sides with those that feel that the BCS entitlement is justified. She is not Hitler of course, but a non-AQ alumni/fan should write on our behalf on ESPN, not a Gator fan.

I've always thought she has given us pretty good coverage.. of all the people at ESPN to hate she'd be way at the bottom of my list.

I just read the chat...maybe I'm missing something, but I see no issues. She says there's a gap and that non-aqs teams have a hard time getting respect and into BCS games...she also says she's for a play-off so that teams like non-aq's can get a chance.

What got everyone so ticked off?

I'm mostly upset that the official ESPN non-AQ correspondent stated that non-AQ teams have always been a class below AQ teams, and that they always will be, and that we all just need to get used to it. Anyone who has that attitude should not be the official mouthpiece for non-AQ football at the most important online sports magazine on the planet.

*Also, in the future, kindly attempt to provide us with your opinion without the name calling. Thanks much.

I think she went to UCF. There are always people complaining that she gives too much press to them.

I saw mention of Florida in an article. UCF takes some of the fun out of my argument. I still think a staunchly pro-non AQ writer should hold that position. The earth will keep spinning either way I guess, I'm just very BCS/non-BCS sensitive as of late.

If you look at it from a $$$ perspective, it's tough to see that gap changing. But that doesn't mean there can't be more level playing field which she pushes towards.

I wish they would level the playing field on a money side.. I'd like to see like all TV and Bowl money split out more equally. Stadium and alumni money stay at the college.. to me that would be a step in the right direction.

RE: "Non-AQ" chat with Andrea Adelson (the devil)
We can wish that, but I don't see that portion happening anywhere in the near future. Even if they made TV and bowl money slightly more equal, most of the big schools are still WAY ahead in athletic funds. I'll be happy if they just level the competitive field, fine if we have not as good of facilities or uniforms, college football is one of the only sports where you can work your tail off, win every game put in front of you, but not get a chance to play for THE championship. It's a disservice to athletes everywhere.
