RE: O/T Prince Fielder to Tigers
I have a hard time seeing the Tigers in the WS, unless Austin Jackson can hit better than .210, Brenden Bosech can stay healthy and Rayburn can stop being a bum. Its great to have Cabrera and Fielder, but besides the Aviles behind the plate, the rest of the team is very inconsistent. Peralta is getting any younger either.
The talent that was in Toledo last year with the Mud Hens really wasn't that impressive either. Its going to be tough to get by Boston, LA, and Texas this year.

I worry about the 5th starter.

If the Tigs had/do trade for another P then we'll be fine.

That said, some Tig hitters had very good years which might be hard to duplicate Peralta being one.

this thread should be ended! No way should anyone be paid this amount of money to hit a ball. They should hire 500 teachers instead!

That being said no way our fifth starter is worse than Brad Penny no matter who they go with.

Hard to imagine A-Jax being as bad as he was last season. Might not match his 1st year stats but at the very least he should settle somewhere in between.

Brad Penny is terrible. Really no team needs a 5th starter till May. Then in September they aren't needed. Jackson has to step up, because Santiago or Inge will not produce in the 9th spot. Rayburn is so streaky, he can't be relied on either.

I don't know how much stock can be put into your Tiger's knowledge when you can't spell Brennan Boesch, Ryan Raburn, or Alex Avila correctly.

No! Put this on someother site then! I'll ***** if I want to, 500 teachers and their full medical benefits and retirement to boot for a baseball player that can't hit .500. If it was a teacher people like you would be screaming like mad! He'll .300 get 45 homeruns and people like you will be paying $120 a pop for seats with $40 parking, $9 beer and $6 hot dog. Don't like the bitching don't post it here. I have a lot more.04-chairshot

The Tigers are going to be an offensive juggernaut! I CANNOT wait for the season to start. Go Tigers!!! I think Austin Jackson will have a much better season, he had a bit of a sophomore slump but he should bounce back and have a season more similar to his rookie year.

Who's 'they?' Mike Ilitch? Mr. Ilitch owns a business, it's called the Detroit Tigers. Why would he want to hire 500 teachers for his business? Should IBM and Microsoft hire 500 teachers too? When YOU own a business and YOU choose to hire 500 teachers then YOU have a say in how YOU spend YOUR money.

It isn't his money it is our money and that isn't what I am saying. He wouldn't have that much money if people like YOU didn't give it to him to buy baseball players. A player that sits on the bench the entire season makes more than 10 teachers why should those palyers be paid at all?

Look on your money what does it say? If he and people like him didn't live in this great country that we the middle class and poor built and support he would have billions.

That is because people like you give Ilich the rest to pay millions to a person to hit a ball 1/3 of the time and work a little over half a year.

Your argument is so... mind boggling stupid, it would be like yelling at Ilitch for spending millions on a collectible sports car or a mansion. It's HIS FREAKING MONEY! If you don't like his PRODUCT, don't purchase it. Seriously, you're making EMU grads look bad.

It you that is missing the aregument I am not bemoaning his money or he spending but you and people like you who think this some kind great deal. But then whine how much teacher are being over paid andhow high your taxes are. Cutting education spending but then go and spend $200 a game to watch person hit a ball. And again it is only becauces people like you GIVE it to him. And I don't watch or talk prosports just for that reason.

RE: O/T Prince Fielder to Tigers
Last try. The two are not even remotely related. Ilitch Holdings, Detroit Tigers Baseball Club, inc., Little Caesars are not government agencies. They are private businesses. The pay scale for a professional athlete is much higher than teachers or people in my profession. If I was good enough at baseball where I could command that kind of a salary, I would and I'm guessing you would too. If I feel that players are paid too much money to the point that it offends me, I have the right not to watch, listen, or invest a single dollar towards the MLB product. If I decide movie actors are not worth the $10 million per movie they get paid, no one is forcing me to go see that movie. Professional athletes and movie/tv actors get paid whatever the market bears. Same thing with doctors, lawyers, policeman, and yes...teachers. For the record, I DO NOT want any cuts made to education spending. I am 100% pro-teacher.

RE: O/T Prince Fielder to Tigers
No last try!
I am not talking about the player

I am not talking the owner.

I am talking about people who go and watch these over paid people and then WHINE that their taxes are to HIGH and that teacher get paid to MUCH! It is about the people who will HAPPILY pay good money (365,000) to have a player SIT on a bench all year and do basicly NOTHING but scream bloody murder if a teacher (30,000 starting salary) asks for a raise. IT IS YOU who think I am talking about the players and the owners! I am only using the players and owners I HAVE TO they are the recieving end not the blame, the blame goes to the "PEOPLE" ! It is money which they wouldn't have if " PEOPLE" didn't GIVE it to them!
IT is people like you that come in here and crow how great it is that this team spent 23,000,000 on A player that can only hit a ball once every 3 at bats and think it the best thing since sliced bread!

And this tread does not belong on here this suppose to be about EMU athletics not pro sports.
