RE: La Tech? Hilarious!
There HAS to be a balance of quality and markets. that's why I'm proposing Ark St, LaTech + 5 more in large markets. Get CUSA to 16, forget about the merger and let the MWC have the WAC. The MWC has EVERYTHING to gain in this merger, certainly more than we do. CUSA has more markets. I guess you can make the argument that the merger would be a better basketball conference than we have now because of UNLV and UNM.

Honestly there isn't a good option but I think long term we're better off expanding separately and closing some gaps. the merger won't be a long term deal anyway.

You admit there are no good options. So why add a bad La Tech and ASU team with no market? They offer NOTHING.

RE: La Tech? Hilarious!
They're the conference champs of the WAC and SBC, that's why. They're light years ahead of Memphis, UAB and Tulane in football success on the field right now. Hell, Ark St throttled Memphis this year. Both have commited to hiring / extending contract with great coaches. With all their flaws that is still a fact. Sure they don't have a lot of history but they appear to be turning the corner.

Wait. Hold up. Tech is restricted to Ruston, and therefore can't claim Monroe (even though that is our designated TV Market), but you concede that UNT --- which I agree is certainly worthy of CUSA consideration also --- brings ALLLL of DFW??!!! Let's at least be FAIR, PATiger.

If Denton, Texas is to be included in the DFW DMA...as it certainly is...then Ruston, LA (and Lincoln Parish) is most certainly to be included in the Monroe/El Dorado DMA.

Look man, you certainly have the liberty to criticize my University and its short-comings all you want. But try to be fair with the criticism. I just believe if you're going to say it's good for A, it should be good for B-Z.

One year. You don't base adding a school on one year.

Do you have any idea who Ark State just hired as their HC?

Denton County has 662,614 people. That's more than Lincoln, Jackson, Morehouse, Ouachita, and Union parishes COMBINED.

Yeah. A guy trying to distance himself from an NCAA investigation at Auburn. A guy whose wife torpedoed any chance of him getting a good job.

Yeah. A guy trying to distance himself from an NCAA investigation at Auburn. A guy whose wife torpedoed any chance of him getting a good job.

And???? How does that affect his ability to coach? Seems like Memphis fans are scared of both Ark St and LaTech if you ask me.

The only thing we're scared of is the amount of welfare we'd have to pay them after they torpedoed our television contracts.

No.

We're fixing our football situation. We've all got areas that need improvement.

Throwing rocks at each other doesn't bring anything to the discussion, we've all got weak areas.

Rice and Houston are both in Houston. Which one gets to claim the market? Monroe is less than a half hour drive along I-20 from Ruston, close enough to Ruston for Monroe to be considered in their market. I know many of the residents of Monroe think so. I think you need to spend some time in N. Louisiana before you begin to speculate on who is actually embarrassing themselves.

Been there many times. You are the one who should be embarrassed.

RE: La Tech? Hilarious!
I was born and raised in Monroe. Most fans recently have been on the LSU bandwagon (like most of the state). The rest are probably 50/50 between Tech/ULM. But most college football fans in Louisiana tune in to a La Tech game, unless their team is playing at the same time.

Simply wrong.

Have a glance at the TV ratings for all of Tech's ESPN games.

actually, that's statistically true...Tech doesn't have a market...

It's right. La Tech would be in dead last and it wouldn't be close.
