So your joy over LaTech is no different than the wall USM is facing.

I'm ecstatic that a lousy program like La Tech is not being considered.

I will be ecstatic when Memphis can beat a Sun Belt team in football again.

If you love the Sun Belt so much, join them.

dunno if it is so much a love affair with the sun belt as much as it is he wishes a team in C-USA could actually beat a team from the sun belt. 44-3 to arkansas state this season. really dude?

Obviously you are a youngster. Please go back and check the history of tech's athletic program before you look like a fool. Thanks

I dunno why some ppl on here hate La Tech so bad, they face the same battles that most of us in C-USA do and yet they are still successful its crazy to me.

Greed. Tech doesn't offer any money. UTSA may give them another $100K a year.

They have no money. Their fans don't open their wallets. That's another big issue re whether or not they have "earned" it.

But we have to expand. We've got to have one school at least and I'm 90% sure the BE will take one more from us.

If this development doesn't point to UNT or UTSA, I don't know what does.

Not to be a jerk, but did anyone else see this? Not that I don't trust you, but it is hard to take anything about LT as truth at this point with so much venom being spewed by both this supporters and detractors in all sorts of directions at this point...

Anyone get a screen shot or a cached thread?

Probably not UNT since they don't bring any value to the Sun Belt television deal. I'm thinking Temple and UTSA are the only options. Temple will probably decline. Gotta be UTSA.

I thought the same thing until I looked at this. I hadn't bothered to research it until just now. I'd say "over exaggeration" is an appropriate term for LT fans touting their success. I'm really not trying to be an a-hole here but there's no way to spin this.

I saw it. I'm a Tech fan. It happened. See my earlier post on page 1 for the details.

We're already competing with them for recruits in LA and SW MS. Why would we promote them? Let them rot in the WAC or Suck Belt. They contribute nothing but an easy road trip and we can play them OOC if we want that.

Yes, a few of them but isn't that the point of competition? They are one of the few schools that brings a good amount of fans to "The Rock". The SEC is what is now because of the rivalries that have been cultivated due to their proximity to one another.

The $EC is what is because it is made up of some of the strongest programs in the country at the time the big TV deals started getting inked. La Tech has a smaller stadium than USM, a smaller budget, no market, and every sport other football sucks. The love affair some people have for them us just silly. Take UNT, FIU, and ODU and call it a day. Those schools have markets don't poach anyone else's recruiting territory.

Do you not understand how those programs became that powerful? Rivalries! They weren't just given all of this money, they built their programs and conference up due to rivalries. Almost every school is an easy 4 to 6 hour drive away from one another, with the exception of a few. Heck, some are closer than that. I'm not saying Tech is a perfect fit but a team in Miami is beyond ridiculous. I think we need to close the gaps between UTEP and Marshall/ECU.

Honestly, I don't understand all the hate for Tech.

Tech isn't closing any gaps. Georgia State would be closing a gap. MTSU would be closing a gap. Even App State would be closing a gap. Tech just adds another team in a general area we already have a bunch of teams in. I don't hate them, just don't see them being of any help to ECU in any way. Doubt they are increasing our payout, aren't helping us in terms of decreasing our travel. USM fans seem to be the ones in love with Tech, but then again I'm probably higher on ODU than most others for a lot of the same reason USM is high on Tech.

A poster on the latechbbb.com board yesterday pasted an e-mail he had sent to one of their athletic officials and his response. They have deleted the post, not the thread, and obviously are displeased that the official responded to the effect that I am afraid now that markets are the primary driving force behind selecting a team.

Obsessed with LaTech. Hate them, yet you are over reading their board? 03-razz

The only reason they don't bring any value to the current SB TV deal is that for some reason the SB re-upped before UNT had their stadium finished. It is very hard to bring any value in a stadium that could not be used for broadcast purposes due to insufficient lighting and abysmal TV capabilities.. Lets just say that it looks like the SB left $$ on the table to get their ESPN3 deal, but then again they may have guessed correctly if the end product of realignment lets them renegotiate one more time with at least one more less conference for the media providers to cover.

UNT provides value because it allows to continue to capture the fans of other programs in DFW + what ever UNT fans are included. If DFW is excluded, then the residual fans from other CUSA schools are lost as well.

It is what it is... UNT provides the excuse for the network providers top include in the DFW market in the TV coverage map. Without that, many fan bases lose viewers due to the fact that DFW has a large contingent of CUSA/MWC fans living in DFW. The coverage map is what is important, not the school, the alumni or the record. SMU should have been a wake call for everyone...

Easier to be high on Tech when you're already located smack in the center of CUSA.

You know, I find it funny there is so much hate between some La. Tech fans and Southern Miss fans but La. Tech enjoyed the most success in their history while being coached by a southern miss alum Coach Maxie Lambright
