For those who miss Pong (that'd be a category of one): Pong lost any credibility he had the day he proclaimed Crean a better coach than Huggs

Man BJ I had forgotten all about that one. What a brilliant snapshot of Pong's basketball knowledge.

While that was as thorough a thumping as Louisville could give Marquette...............remember, Travis Diener did not play tonight. Experienced PG play was desperately missing for Marquette tonight. Don't get me wrong.................I knew Marquette was overrated when they broke the top 25 because they really hadn't played anybody. But Diener brings like (guessing here) 18 ppg, 7 apg when he plays. Plus Louisville shot 32 three pointers nailing 52% of them. Then add in the "at home" factor and any opponent would have had a rough night. Repeat: Marquette minus their 4 year starting, CUSA POY candidate at PG and leader of their team on the road at a "hot-shooting" high powered Louisville team.

Louisville is starting to look like a contender. But they did that last year and then faded in the last 2 weeks of the season. Or more like the last month............they got worn down. It will be interesting to see if they can sustain this.

The difference between Louisville last year and this year is that Louisville hasn't jumped out early and peaked too early. The past two years they have jumped out quick to extremely fast starts and then slumped with fatigue and injuries. This year they are starting to play good at mid year and they have gotten over some of their injuries.

Point well taken, Chatter. Diener is certainly the heart and soul of that Marquette team.

DJ, not calling you Pong, and the one guy who misses him would be Snart. It's just that, seeing Marquette get whooped on brought back all the crap Pong said about how great a coach Crean is.

Yeah, everybody gets lucky now and then. We felt sorry for Louisville......after that ugly loss to Houston. How embarrassing.........so we thought we'd throw you a bone and let you back into that game.

Deiner is the most overrated guard in college. He plays great against weak opponents and truns the ball over a lot against good teams. He would not have made a 50 point difference last night.

Good Lord. No one ever made excuses for us while Dean was playing with TWO hernias in his abdominal wall (surgically repaired in the off season) and Garcia on a couple of high ankle sprains for the second half of last season. How about the fact that we lost our leading rebounder and post presence for a season and a half with a severe knee injury? Yet we never lost by 47 to anyone and were competitive with everyone with few exceptions. But diener... now that little fireplug would make a 50-point difference for MU? Our starters averaged 26 minutes last night. There was no attempt to run the score up. Marquette is a fraud this year, I posted it the night Memphis was blowing them out and they confirmed my assertions last night.

Is Diener a nice guard? Yeah. Most good players look great when you surround them with talent, i.e. Wade or Merritt. Diener is a nice guard surrounded by mediocre talent. Outside of Novak I'm not sure there is another player on their team that would make it on a legit Big East roster. We'll see next season.

Nobody said that Diener would have led Marquette to a win L-yes so simmer down. The general consensus is that if Diener had played it wouldn't have been the "woodshed" beating that it ended up being.
