i'll start with the negatives so you feel good when your finished reading the post
Negatives
Where was Max. Once again in foul trouble and alot of turnovers, not to mention a missed dunk. Missed 4 free throws in a row
Letting Swift go off. At some point Jihad has to take pride in his defense and stop that little f*ck from scoring.
Kirkland's usual. It's not that he had a bad game, he just seems to be in his own little world most of the time.

Positives
Eric Hicks double double and all around great game(without Max)
Roy Bright solid play. 9pts 6 boards. Looked like a beast down low at times going against 6'10 dudes for boards and blocks. Mini Monsta!
Chad Moore's heart. he was holding his back an awful lot, but he had a solid game. No dumb plays or turnovers
Jihad no ill advised shots. Some bad misses, but not bad shots.
Suffocating defense. Made the game look sloppy, but we were everywhere. Good effort by everybody 04-cheers
Holding a guy who averages 18pts to 0 pts! Leather didn't even want to play today. It looked like he fouled out on purpose

more positives than negatives + a blowout = 04-cheers

I'm pleased. I was expecting a closer game (for reasons unbeknowgist to me). I didn't like Max's 4 turnovers in the first half, nor his missed dunks (he's got to convert one of those on a foul eventually right?). James was nonexistent, well I saw him breifly in Huggs' doghouse. As usual, loved the play of Chadd. That behind the back fast break to Roy(?) was nice. Jihad played a good game. Great defense. Though Swift, being an Ohio boy, plays with a chip on his shoulder against us.

peace.

It kind of got boring after it became apparent that it was going to be a blowout, which was when they got up by 13 in the first half. Everytime anybody from UC went up for an exciting dunk they either got hammered or shoved.

Still, I'll take a blowout on the road any day of the week.

I think we all expect to win these games. It's almost like I'm bored with these games and want to get to the meaningful ones and WIN ONE FOR ONCE. I know they're all meaningful, but you know what I mean. :crying:

Chatter, when you're in C-USA, you have no choice but to play these opponents. When we're in the NBE, there will be no nights off...

wait a minute...

South Florida IS IN THE NBE :bang:

04-cheers

We would have beaten you guys if the refs did not cheat and take out TL. We are going to dominate the NBE in football and basketball because we will be able to recruit the idea of playing big name teams and the idea of playing in Florida instead of the cold north.

Go Bulls

Yeah, those pesky refs. They're always in the way.

BTW, if you plan to "dominate" the Big East, you may want to re-think your recruiting philosophy.
Ever heard of Abdul Herrera? Apparently, he doesn't mind the climate here. 03-razz

The radio guys mentioned twice last night about how Swift had really wanted to be a Bearcat -- I remember that at the time. They said that Huggins' take on it was that he already had Satterfield and there wasn't much point in recruiting Swift.

My hunch then and now is that he didn't fit the mold of a Huggins PG recruit -- small, not strong, and not a top national recruit like Satterfield, who was also small of build, though not short.

But the "Satterfield is here" rationale seems like baloney to me, even without the idea that he'd bolt after two years (which I have to think wasn't shocking to Huggins -- he certainly played as if he was auditioning for the League). In Swift, here's a skilled, quick guard from Ohio who's dying to come to UC apparently, and now we see him thriving late in his career in our own conference -- the same competition primarily. Meanwhile, PG continues to be a source of concern, and we're hoping that next year's new guy will help alleviate that problem. Wouldn't Swift have been a nice addition to the roster last year and this year? (And while I haven't seen Downey play, I imagine his stature and game aren't very different from Swift's.)

I know - it's a little like when Calhoun had to defend himself last year for not offering Ryan Gomes... but we all want players who want to be here, and we want smart players with heart and skills and a sweet shot, and I think we saw one last night. In a game we were always going to win, I was glad to see him go off like that. It took him 26 shots to do it, but then again, it was pretty much 1-on-5.

Just something to ponder...

That was one UGLY game.

You knew UC would let them back in at the start of the second half. USF did only cut it to 14, but they are one bad team. The way USF played in the first half UC should have been up by at least 30 at halftime.

I can't figure James White out. He just does not score, does not rebound, and his defense is now lacking. And how many times has he been called for traveling?

Maxiell is in a bad stretch and needs to get it turned around.

I did like how UC was able to get the ball inside to Hicks more last night.

I was surprised that UC did not work harder to get Nick Williams more open 3's.

Swift ended up at South Florida, I think it's safe to say that there were ALOT of coaches who didn't think he would be as good as he is today.

Hicks is showing huge improvement. I saw him get the ball inside and pass out of the double a few times when he couldn't create. he still needs to work on catching it everytime. His hands still aren't great.

I don't think the Bearcats really cared much about this game. I don't blame them either. They had a long late flight the night before, probably didn't get to bed until 3am. They were playing a team no one really gives a second thought to, and basically took the game in the first half. Then they just got bored and tired and Swift was able to score some points. That's not a good thing but I understand it.

Swift still only shot about 35% for the game, which is not very good anyway

I agree with this. First off, I'm of the belief that you can never have too many (up to 3, anyway) point gaurds on the roster. PG has always been very much a key position in college ball. Second, did Kenny not declare after freshman year, then pull his name out? We did also have Lo in the fold, but it was obvious Kenny wasn't staying around too long.
